• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

I hate even having to post this, I'm feeling a bit baited in doing so.

Someone named "CarlosDevil" sent me a Private Messege pretending to be an SOH administrator or some such bunk, advising me to visit a website to have my computer scanned and if it failed this test... here let me just post what they wrote, sans the link which is certainly a no-go.

Take measures immediately!!!!!

We highly recommend you to check your computer and perform online virus check at our site immediately: LINK REMOVED

If you do not pass this test* we will have to delete your account and forward a complaint to your ISP with attached log file (your IP address, etc.).

Now then, I've done nothing but try to learn and help others to learn since I've been a member of the SOH community, and I have a pay-ware version of one of the latest, greatest, Internet Security tools, and I don't go to any notoriously bad places to visit online. So this person, to use that term loosely, is in fact, an idiot.

They also had a Read Confirmation attached, which I selected CANCEL to. They will not have me going to any bogus site, regardless of their non-convincing threat, nor will I respond to them directly. I present this only to warn others of this appearant phishing-scam, or whatever it is about. That, is my only intent here.

The next step is informing the real admins about this. Also noted underneath their name is "Banned", so this must be one of those wonderfully misguided people who think the internet is a toy. That might work for the World of Warcraft forums, but here we actually read details and fine print. If anyone else recieves a PM like this, please disregard it, as I have, and let the admins investigate further if needed.

We would make a party of it, all our SOH friends could come and bring their own club or pipe. We could sell tickets and raise money for SOH. If only life worked out that well!

well bugger ... I had the same private message and didn't think at all (it was from admin ... that's my excuse :banghead: ) ... and just spent a good hour doing a thorough anti virus deep scan ...... rather a lot of egg on face at this moment .......
 
Why do none of these exciting things happen to me? After all my hard work supplying aeroplane skins to the world, you'd think somebody would remember me...

I think I'll come along and help beat this BF up just for that.
