On 22 May 1955,the first Italian-built North American (FIAT) F-86K took to the skies over Turin. It was the export version of the single-engined all-weather interceptor fighter, the F-86D, over 2,500 of which were produced.The FIAT factories produced under license all the 221 F-86Ks except for a first batch of two prototypes and 120 aircraft assembled in the US.
