I have uploaded into the FSX Civil Props today an upgraded version of Jens Kristensen's Shorts S23 C Class Flying Boat. Texures, VC and Sound and other effects have all been modified and upgraded. I want to acknowledge and thank Jens Kristensen for this FSX Native version of what is a Classic Aeroplane and his design and work has stood the test of time also. This should work in P3D but again may not, it has not been tested. Background information, notes and manual are included.
Major changes have been to the VC, panel and instrumentation together with the construction of a more bona-fides radio operator position within the limits of the original model. The VC is now identical to a Shorts flying boat of the period and the Gary Jones' Pegasus engine sounds add another dimension to the sim experience. Popups windows have been retained to access some parts which are still functional in the VC but as this was a large multi-crew aircraft I find them easier to use to get tasks done in such models. As far as I can tell anything in the VC can be operated with the mouse in the VC and additional views give access to other crew positions.
The design, construction and development of the S23 was an extraordinary achievement by Shorts when this aircraft first flew in 1936 and has been called a technological marvel, which it was. The aim was to bring this aeroplane back to life in FSX and to improve upon JBK's work to achieve as an authentic sim experience as is possible. Enjoy and have fun!
