• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

it states here that he fielded three rookies in cup..last one in 1985,,this could have been me,he had contacted me in 83,and "invited" to the shop with the idea of me working in the shop and then after a certain time period,id move to the drivers seat of the cup car..i would be free to drive ASA other sanctioning bodies outside of NASCAR until the time he decided i was ready.
i didn't go because my father wanted me to stay and be apart of his business,i would have needed assistance to move, both monetarily and physically...and he refused to help...and in those days,,you just didnt argue with my father...his word was the rule...i think back on the two things my father stepped in and interfered with and it makes me angry now, this race deal, and when i was 15,i was offered ,through the ROP program,to do a apprenticeship with a large construction company called Tiechert,i would have been trained to operate heavy equipment ( which was a childhood dream of mine) from age 16-18,when i turned 18 and had graduated,i couldn't drop out or fail any classes, then Tiechert would promote me to journeyman and grantee'd a job as an operator for them...which would then lead to me being an HFEO with CDF.

  • Sad News - Junie Donlavey: Legendary NASCAR owner and Richmond native Junie Donlavey has died at age 90 according to family members. Donlavey suffered from Alzheimer's disease and passed away Monday night in Richmond. Donlavey got his start as an owner in 1950 at Martinsville. He fielded NASCAR teams all the way into the 2000s. Donlavey's famous #90 car fielded rookie of the year drivers three times (1970, 1980, 1985). Donlavey's family told NBC12 that Junie thought it would only be appropriate if he passed away at age 90, the same number famously featured on his stock cars.(WWBT), see Donlavey's owner stats at racing-reference.info.(6-10-2014)
