Just Flight's Traffic X released

I’ve installed it tonight and have just had a quick look at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on">Manchester</st1:City> airport here in the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">UK</st1:place></st1:country-region>. So far so good, but I have noticed that I needed to turn both traffic sliders up to 100%. The aircraft look really good frame rates look good as well. I will report back when I have had the chance to look at it a little closer.
I bought the upgrade pack because I already had the “Traffic” pack.

Just a question.

I've got MyTrafficX and it's so-so if you ask me. How would you rate it to Just Flight's Traffic X?
If it's better, I would like to get it.

MyTraffic is very generic - it randomly places aircraft in "appropriate areas" (note not accurate locatons). Based on FS9 versions of both packs and MT 5.1, it does, however, tend to be lower resolution liveries and models than other offerings, with an associated slight frame rate increase.

I was thinking of asking if it was possible to review TrafficX alongside the UK2000 EGBB Xtreme, which is now almost at the top of my reviews list, but have had other things to do that have taken priority.

Does Just Flight's Traffic X have military aircraft?MyTrafficX does.
BTW- They just came out with a FSX Sp2/Accel DX10 compatible upgrade.It cost 12-14 Euros, depending where you live.

just a quick question regarding traffic. when i turn mine all the way up, it makes flying ifr a real pain in the donkey. i can't get a reply in to atc without skwooing the mike. is it possible to have the traffic without the chatter?
flying in heavy storms when atc wants to know every few seconds if i see the cessna that is well outside my visibilty makes me nutz. :isadizzy:
 
I don't have any traffic addons (YET), but what I found helps with the default ATC and heavy traffic, is to use Editvoicepack and use their accelleration feature to speed up the voices. Takes less time to get ATC calls out, but also sounds like a more realistic pace for radio chatter.
 
Couple of questions:

1) Are the planes in either Just Flight Traffic X or MyTraffic X FSX SDK planes, converted FS9 planes, or a mix? Last I heard, MyTrafficX was a mix.
2) Can you keep the FSX GA traffic?

Hi there - to answer question 1), the aircraft in Traffic X have been developed using the very latest FSX SDK and are fully compatible with SP2 and DX10 Preview mode.

As for 2), yes - you can keep your FSX GA aircraft - they can be used in Traffic X via the random generator tool.

FINALLY, will have to check this out then. my old FS9 custom AI is killing my frames, and the models have issues. LOL
 
I bought it today. Couple of thoughts:
- For someone who is flying in dx10 only, this is very interesting option. All the planes were done with FSX SDK toolkit and are very fps friendly. They are not using bumps and specs and have single texture, so they beat default traffic in performance.
- The application is quite powerful and offers to create own airlines, paintschemes (you can export some blank texture, paint it, import and apply to create some new paintcheme in the cfg
- you can decide what planes/countries/continents will be "on" while generating traffic file. If you wish, you dont have to create AI traffic for some continent, just to save on performance, etc. I need to investigate it.
- The software is equipped with 2 vehicles (follow me car and pushback car) to explore the aerodrome. There is also a "spotter" you can slew it to the end of the runway to take some screenshots. This is some cool feature.
- The flights are not accurate representations of the R/L ones. The fleets are missing some airliners or paintschemes. For example, my LOT airlines are not using ATR-72 (but they should), etc., etc. But everything can be fixed by the community.
- Traffic X uses default GA planes, so you can see Ultralight, glider or anything else in the air (even default Beaver trying to land on concrete, lol) You can decide, which planes will be used to create traffic file. I disabled Beaver to avoid stupid looking landings.
- Military traffic is a fact. Pity that there is no F-16.
- With one click, you can make some of the AI planes flyable. All of them are equipped with thumbnails. Sure, there will be no VC and simple panel, but if anyone wants...
- Traffic X brings set of default afcad files with itself. It is added in the Scenery Library. I disabled it. The program allows to import own aerodrome list from the FSX. I did it via traffic toolbox by generating airport.dat file and opening it in Traffic X. This is a nice feature.
- Sometimes the flights are doubled and you can see two tubeliners following each other :)

To buy or not to buy ? It is expensive addon. Some of you may be satisfied with the custom AI traffic taken from FS9 (just like WoAI) and will be perfectly happy with it, since it covers many small airlines and provides more accurate planesets, paints and schedules. I have mixed feelings, as I expected a bit more (at least more liveries). I need to test it much more. It appears to be very powerful tool. If there will be community support, new skins and flightplans, everything will work OK :)
 
Thanks for the info Lukasz, much appreciated and well done. Pity there is no custom GA aircraft, I want that more than anything since I rarely hit the big airports, but miss my custom GA AI thru Henry T's great FS9 AI GA.
 
Head up, folks! I really wanted this, but decided that $50 was just too steep. (I have a self-imposed $25 limit on add-ons, with a few rare exceptions like the B377.)

BTW, Just Flight has relased SP-1 for the Traffic X. It fixes some bugs and improves traffic appearance in the FSX.
