KAPF Naples Florida

I have been watching videos that I was able to download online from a flight school called MzeroA with great interest to improve my flying skills. They are flown from some smaller Florida airports and the latest videos were from KAPF so I downloaded Art Poole's airport created for FSX which also works perfectly in Prepar3D V4.5 but it was created in 2009 and there have been a lot of changes in the past 16 years. Art gave me permission to update it for Prepar3D V4.5 and share it here so I started last week and updated all the taxiways. Then, I started enhancements like "enhanced taxiways" and GP "Hold Short" which look so much better than the default ones. At first I was not adding any "Hold Short" in ADEx, but that would mean that if I ever wanted to add ai aircraft that they would not taxi properly. FSDevelopers showed me how to make the ADEx Hold Short invisible by editing them when added to "No Draw" so now I am doing that. Always learning something new is a good day. I am going to alternate working on this with my other thread for KRDU until it's finished and then will share it here. A lot of studying Google Earth is a necessity. This afternoon I started work on the Terminal. Here is a screen shot in GoogleEarth and you can see why it is just got to be added:

Then I don't have a clue ?????? I have Firefox AND Google. If you have Google try and log in on that. Sometimes a different browser Otherwise follow the directions on how to exclude the website from your Malwarebytes protection. We KNOW it is not malware.
The FS Developer forum seems to be down however, some of their tools are still available
here
My forum is totally up and operating. I think that something is going on with your Malwarebytes program I have been working (and it's finished) on the terminal all day. Just got out of the shower and saw you posted at 10AM.

Something was amiss with Malwarebytes. I can load the fsdeveloper link okay now. I never had this issue until now but it is all sorted.

Been working the last few days on completing this for release here. There wasn't anything to post screenshots of. I probably should release it on AVSIM too since that is where I started from with Art Poole's FSX 2009 and I have over the years gotten lots of freeware there. It's out for beta test now and if all is ok, I will release it here and there for all to share. I enhanced it quite a bit with lots of references to Google Earth and also my copy of Standards For Airport Markings-150_530 FAA pub. Gonna check it out in my Cessna 172 too.

As usual, nothing works together like it's supposed to. What is beautiful above in Sketchup is NOT once it's converted in Model Converter X and then there were texture problems because of it's FS9 to FSX to Prepar3D. Once I DO get everything ironed out it will ONLY be for Prepar3D Version 4.5. It is not backwards compatible with FSX and it doesn't work in Prepar3D V5 without losing textures that edakridge and I worked on all day and cannot resolve without weeks of work. Since this is obviously NOT payware the time expenditure is not worth it I am afraid so if you fly P3D V4.5, you will be able to use it. I will be uploading it here when I am satisfied that it's worth you downloading it. I hope that I can resolve the issues after three weeks of work.

Will your kapf feature eye candy such as this?

If you notice, Scenery Builders is 15 years old. Check out THEIR terminal. I posted a screenshot above of the new terminal which I custom built. I also have the customs area apron labeled authentically with the real paint from Google Earth. Theirs I saw is not the same as Google Earth. I did notice in the slide show that some of Art Poole's hangers are like ones they show so they must be right. It may have been redone in that 15 years. Every taxiway that is enhanced in real life, is in my KAPF as well as all the runway designation blocks (red boxes). In essence then all the proper airport markings on the aprons, taxiways and runways are done. I DID not create any custom hangers but used ADE hangers and the hangers and FBOs that Art Poole created and placed with his permission. I felt that the most important building to create was the terminal which I did from Google Earth and Sketchup. All the aprons throughout the entire airport were created with a background from Google Earth in ADEx so that they are correct. In almost all cases unless you can take photos of the hangers and buildings, Google Earth and Google Maps do not have any ground access except from highways so it's not possible in most cases to do custom hangers. I was able for my home airport in Ocean Isle NC: Odell Williamson Airport-60J to walk around the airport with my Nikon DX camera and take tons of photos for reference including the grill; FBO; Publix Supermarket across the street and the Lowes Foods across the road on the west side which I DID make in Sketchup. I went crazy and added the four mailboxes in front of the grill. It is night illuminated exactly according to photos at night as well as the large wooden patio with umbrella tables. There are two new buildings: a tire dealer and a Micky D's which I am going to photograph next time I go out to Publix shopping. Funny, when I was taking my photos, cars turning into Publix would stop until I got a shot which made me laugh. I always waved a thank you.If you missed the post back in 2022, here is the link to it:

Panorama of 60J here

No Publix across the street from 60J, maybe this was taken before construction. Looks like construction next to tire store was for a Publix.

Probably. i have noticed when i am using Google Earth or Bing Maps that you have to be very careful about the date the photo was taken. A lot are old not current. Publix is to the right of Mavis Tire as you can see the parking lot with cars in it. The construction is probably McDonalds being just started which I am going to add sometime along with Mavis Tire to be complete. When I first added Publix, Mavis Tire was under construction three years ago my last update of 60J.

Sounds like a Boom'in town.

You've made a lot of doughnuts (sceneries)...in a short time. Curious to see how they look.
I want to add the night lighting to the terminal at KAPF because all the hangers are lighted and then I will post it. It is probably not perfect but you get to a point (with freeware scenery) that it's as good as I CAN make it and want to share it. Otherwise you can probably go on for ever and ever. I am sure this is what other freeware designers feel sometimes too.
