This is really good stuff. Chino! Been there so many times, and miss it greatly since moving away from CA. Good A-26 detail info.

Indeed it is!

Looks like it's going to be a cracking restoration, and the most authentic A-26 restoration to date.

Cheers

Paul

The aircraft has progressed quite a bit since when I visited the project in May 2014. For a long time it was being restored with the glass/bombardier nose, as was installed when Kermit Weeks purchased the aircraft, but the decision was made to opt for a gun-nose last year (initially the 8-gun, but then changing this to the 6-gun nose when Kermit was also able to locate one of those) which is known to be right/original to the airframe.

View of the cockpit (note most of the instruments had yet to be installed at this time). I believe this will now be the only A-26 flying with the stock/original single-pilot cockpit arrangement when it flies next year.

One of the wing-mounted dual machine gun brackets, with the guns and cover removed - note the shell ejector chutes (one for each gun) and one of the ammunition feed trays.
