Le Mans

Those fins were introduced this year to prevent the cars from getting airborne when they go sideways; imagine what could have happened to Rockenfeller when he hit that Ferrari at 300+ kmh.. :kilroy:

I agree on the visibility issues though! Try a few laps in rFactor or GTR2 in the Peugeot 908 around Le Mans; it's like looking through a letterbox..

Ferry, imagine the effect of a sudden gust of wind, something that happens at La Sarthe, on those 'stabilising' fins.
And honestly, they do obstruct rear vision.
I believe that raising the body height, decreasing the windscreen rake and filling in the gap between the wheel arches would increase stability at speed.
I know it is very different, but my GT40R, timed at 280kph+ down Con-Rod Straight at Bathurst felt very stable (despite my personal high pucker factor!!) and 'comfortable'.
The LMP 'fins' have a distinct feel of the 'Purple Pole Syndrome' to me.
:mixedsmi:

Here are some of the flying accidents that the fin is supposed to prevent:

Rockenfeller and McNish were both very lucky to escape, it does make you wonder if they will have to change the design of the cars?

Peugeot last year went out at a very fast pace to have the cars fail, while Audi just plodded around and won, and this year Peugeot did this and still lost!

Good to to see Audi win again, and glad all were safe drivers, marshals etc.
