• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Lockheed Martin X-59.

The Lockheed Martin X-59 QuessT (Quiet SuperSonic Technology) has been unveiled! The goals for the X-59 are to "reduces the loudness of a sonic boom to a gentle thump to people on the ground" and to "gather data on human responses to the sound generated during supersonic flight," according to NASA.

Its exit out of the hangar reminds me of when you see Spaceball One's on screen entrance in Spaceballs! (It's even going the same direction!) The canopy looks like it came from an F-5. (I'm sure they used as many off the shelf components as they could.) The old XF-103 style periscope for the pilot is not lost on me and boy do I see a LOT of the Aardvark in that profile! The view from the front is wicked! Can't wait to see footage of this baby's first flight and hopefully it'll make an appearance at EAA in the future!
