New Water Textures for FS9.. Enjoy !

Hmmm, not sure about this. The three textures that go into the main FS9 texture folder are from 2006/2008, but the textures that go into the Scenery/world/scenery folder are older than the ones I have now. Not sure I want to mess with something that's a year older than the ones currently in use.

Grasshopper,all that is newer is not necessarily better;
water is a very subjective fs topic, your own view of what looks ok is swayed by where in the world you live and see
the sea/lakes,there is no, one, 'perfect' package for everyone.

Personally, I use a combination of Bill Lyon's and Peter Wildings work, both can be found at Avsim.
I have found that the oceanheightfield.bmp is perhaps the hardest to select.

Planes,...just looking at the water coloration from the pictures,...it seems (subjectively) they're a bit too blue in intensity. I think it'd look good in a tropical water setting but not sure in the northern climes. You might want to check out Real Environmental Pro. It's free. I installed their set yesterday. Very pleased with them. You get two sets to choose from. Either AquaPro 2006 Bright or AquaPro 2006 Dark. I chose Bright. I had to move the water effects slider in the settings back to the middle. However otherwise,...they look a bit too edgy.

yeh... stay away from these... the textures are very blue and have some nasty tiling effects. Further, I think I have seen some of these textures already as part of another package!

BUT! the oceanheightfield.bmp is one I have not seen before and is the first one I have really enjoyed... that single bitmap has persuaded me that the new FS2004 water effects are worth something. Before this, I have been using the Low water settings, which are the same as the FS2002 style water effects...

Brad, I agree. I have not tried these and should have before I shot my mouth off and gave the heads up. The reason I have not tried them is because I like Real Environment Pro which I have had installed since it hit the scene. Choice however is up to us all, and I guess this adds to the line up.
