made a RTW video

P-38 nut
I made a short RTW-related video, inspired by a famous scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey, where the lonely journey to Jupiter is portrayed against the musical backdrop of the Adagio from the Gayene Ballet Suite by Aram Khachaturian. Somehow the music seems to fit the poignant lonliness I get while taking the baton though the night sky or across barren lands as we often do during the race.

Anyway, enjoy!

Very well done, David. Never really thought about how such a haunting strain runs through the RTWR. Intriguing.

I Have the baton!

Ok, calm down, fly.

Gear up, flaps up, course set, otto to 25,000 feet, ok, on course.

GPS looks good.

Relax a bit.

Dang it sure is dark outside…

… 1.5 hours later …

Ok, time to start my descent.

[Takes deep breath]

Otto off

Push the nose down.

Don’t forget to watch the speed.

Hey, what the…

Otto off.

Otto OFF!

“What are you doing, Dave…?”

“Otto?”

“I’ve been reading your lips, Dave, and I’m afraid I can’t allow you to jeopardize this mission.”

Otto, give me the G*** D*** plane!

“I’m afraid I can’t do that, Dave…”

hilarious -- actually, my very first leg on the very first RTW (when I flew for avsim) was a lot like this. It was quite lonely, dark and I had no online communications with anyone (only forum communications). On the way down, I experienced from computer troubles and it felt a lot like that!

I would imagine then that the cockpit would look something like this...
