"McLaren" Trailer...

I first experienced "McLaren" in the Can-Am series during the early 70's. McLaren won everything while spending 10-20 times what their competitors could afford. Then came Porsche and the 917/30. When they kicked orange butt, McLaren started whining about what Porsche was spending. The team was never the same after Bruce's passing. I grew to hate the name McLaren.

McLaren never really ran a huge budget in the Can Am, as running F1 and Indy wasn't cheap, they simply built new cars for the team to run and sold the previous model as 'Customer' cars.
Perfectly normal business practice at the time.
And let's not overlook the fact that Jim Hall was the 'Back Door' GM team with his very sophisticated (and expensive) 'Road Runners.
I well remember the news of Bruce McLaren's death, down the where I was and the time (not exactly but close enough), this was well before Penske got hold of the 'Panzerwagens', the very first Can Am 917 was run as a semiprivate entry by 'Seppi' Siffert.
The car that really screwed the Can Am series up was Jim Hall's 'Sucker' car, the first time a restriction rule (Moveable Aerodynamic Parts IIRC) was applied to a 'Run Anything You Like' that the series was based on.
From the look of the preview this might be a fitting tribute to a thorough and talented Gentleman, extremely popular with his contemporary's on and off the track.
