Monza Qualifying

Well done Verstappen. 2nd in qualifying :encouragement:, but only the 14th start position due to an engine change :banghead:.

In the rain Red Bull showed they have a great chassis and great drivers. Only one Renault engine in the top 10 on the start grid, tells the rest........

Absolute stupidity!
The only way the FIA seem to try and 'spice up' the series is to stifle engine development (especially for Honda) via idiotic penalties.
It doesn't keep costs down as the heavy hitters never make much noise about spending and simply charge like wounded bulls for supplying the lesser teams with 'customer' engines.
With penalties applied, the provisional grid is as follows: Hamilton, Stroll; Ocon, Bottas; Raikkonen, Vettel; Massa, Vandoorne; Perez, Kvyat; Magnussen, Ericsson; Wehrlein, Verstappen; Hulkenberg, Sainz; Ricciardo, Palmer; Alonso, Grosjean.

Probable race day scenario: Turn 1 Lap 1, Stroll and Ocon straight ahead, followed for the next 10 laps or so by much overtaking from Verstappen, Ricciardo, Alonso and Grosjean...........:teapot:
As for Stroll, impressive in such a pig of a car and it's handy to be 'Lucky', but better to be 'Good and Lucky'.

'Formula 1' needs to look long and hard at the MotoGP and the WSBK scene, DORNA have regulations in place limiting the number of complete engines over a season, but they are far less draconian.
Must be mortifying for Verstappen and Ricciardo to drive the wheels off the car in streaming (and dangerous) conditions to reach the front of the grid only to be relegated to the rear by a beauracratic decision by non-racers.
Time for my medication.
