Just got back from a quick stay at <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">'KOSH'</st1:place></st1:City>, and here are just some of my humble photographic attempts that I thought I would share.

Hey Kiwikat,

Thank you for the very kind compliment on the photos! It was amazing to finally see one of these FW-190's in person! For the last two-three years, there was talk of a FW-190 possibly being at the show, so it was great that it finally worked out. Also it was great to see the CAF Southern CA Wing A6M3 Zero, especially coming off of seeing the A6M2 Zero last year. Also it was the first time I had ever seen Chuck Greenhill's amazing Duck. And what a rare experience to be able to get up close with an airworthy Swordfish!

Having experienced the "wall of fire" many times before, I thought I would finally try to capture it. I didn't even get it all in this shot, despite being zoomed fully out.

Need a wider lens then. Got it all with my 8-16!

You were there on Sat right? Did you go to the night airshow? How'd the gust front treat ya?

We ended up saving the rudder on a Queen Air. It wasn't locked in place so it was flapping around really bad when the wind started. Luckily the pilot didn't have his plane locked so while I held the rudder another guy went in the cockpit and managed to lock in the rudder full left so it wouldn't flap around and break. Just a neat story to remember this year by.

So many cool things at Airventure. If any of you guys haven't been there before, GO. It is incredible!

P.S. Seeing all your photos really makes me want to go through mine!!! Thanks a bunch for sharing them.

Nice photos. It was a busy week. I was there Monday thru Friday this year. So I missed the "big blow" on Saturday. Did have the rains Wednesday and Thursday late afternoon to deal with. And the heat on Friday. Haven't heard much about the crowd Saturday. I thought Friday was exceptionally busy. Pictures... I took an average of 200+ each day. Haven't had time to even really look at them all more than once. Eventually I'll post some or load them on Photobucket and post a link.

Hey John,

Is the Wildcat in your first shot the one that has the 3 seats inside behind the pilot? I couldn't believe they could fit three seats in there!

Kiwikat, I was indeed there for the most part on Saturday, and stayed for the night show. After the last of the warbird segments in the afternoon show, we decided to head over to the warbirds. Before we could even reach the warbirds the winds were at full-force - some of the EAA crew on the ground were reporting the winds at the time at 45-60 mph - that sort of sand-blasted my face. When the front passed, it was just pefect for photos, and the temp-drop was awesome!

One of the things I enjoyed the most, out of the flying I saw during the limited time I was at the show, was the aerobatic display by Greg Shelton in his FM-2 Wildcat. He's able to do some things with that aircraft, that I don't know you would be able to copy in FS, with the best recreations of the Wildcat available.

Witt, the Wildcat shot is not of the example with the three seats (the example in my photo is the Frasca Wildcat). I did however see the example you mention, though I didn't get any shots of it since it had the canopy tarp on when I was around it. The example you mention was owned for a long time by original WWII General Motors test pilot, the late Richard Foote, and the configuration and paint schme it remains in, was how he had it restored.

There's a photo of the interior (which is still the same) on this page:

Thank you all for the very kind comments, and I am looking forward to seeing more photos from those who also went to the show!

Here are just a few more of mine:

Most excellent photos John. :applause:

Anyone get a photo of the F-16 that went off the end of the runway? And the F-86 that did it too, ending up next to the F-16?

Thank you Gary! When I was there Saturday, the F-16, by that point, had been moved more off-site, though you could still see it. The FJ-4 Fury (not F-86) that also rolled off the end of the runway, flew-out either Friday evening, or Saturday morning, from what I read. Unlike the F-16, the Fury was completely un-damaged, and only required work on the brakes, as it was a brake failure on the Fury which led it to over-run.

This was a photo I took from a news site, and you can see how the two faired, under different circumstances (the reasons for the F-16 going off the end of the runway have yet to be reported/made public).

Thanks Bomber....

I know I saw an interior shot over @ Wix and thought, wow! that's different!!

When you were talking about the Wildcat demo I couldn't help but think back to last week at Thunder where I got to see a real Zero do a bit of a routine. They actually had it doing some mock dogfighting w/ a Corsair overhead of troops fighting on the ground. AND, while several other Corsairs were making straffing runs!!! That Zero just moves in it's own way and is a lot different than say a Mustang....

I just love your photos John!

I'm going to go through some of mine tonight. Got about 2500 to dig through...

Awesome video!! That head on shot there at the end... woohoo!! I appreciate all the pics you have been posting from Oshkosh.... it is a goal of mine to get there with an RV so I can spend a week out there.

Thanks again!! :wavey:

Thank you all once again, it is a pleasure to share them! Here are just a few more I've gone through. The first two are of the EAA's Bleriot build, which is very original, airworthy, and was flown earlier this year.

The Zero was unfortunately in an odd-area to get photos of it, as was 'Redtail' (though I already have plenty of photos of the P-51C, as it lives about 3-4 miles from me).
