MR Marianas & Bonins UT - A back-dating of Maskriders Marianas xcenery to the Summer of '44. Includes Bonins & Iwo Jima

Marianas & Bonins Scenery for CFS2 by UncleTgt

View attachment 156614

This is a reworking of Maskrider's sceneries for the Marianas, Bonins & Iwo Jima islands, originally released in 2010.

At that time Maskrider based his scenery on the period after the US B-29 bases had been built. I felt I could make a decent job of using this base scenery & reverting it back to a summer '44 appearance, exchanging US bases for new JAP bases. It became a much more extensive reworking than I...

Hiede,

These might be leftovers from Maskriders Marianas - check the objects required from his readme.
Remember I was back-dating from his package, not installing from fresh.

Looks like I need to revise the useful scenery links list again... :cower:

UT,

I also wanted to know. Are a lot of the airfields grass or did we make a mistake adding everything?

I can't find -barracks1 and wmtower.I'm going to check to see if I missed a d/l.

I think these are in Gary20's RAF Objects. Maskrider used them to depict the USMC barracks at Orote. I saw no reason to change it.

I don't use grass runways, they call for the grass.R8 bitmap which is just awful looking.

I do use "invisible" runways (quite often) when I don't think the limited choice of textures we have will cut it.

These allow the airbase bitmap to show through.

eg. As Iwo was volcanic, I decided the CFS 2 dirt runway texture was too "bright".

I've attached a description of the texture decisions made for each of the Marianas/Bonins land runways. Hope you find it useful.

I extracted the layouts for John's Japanese Bonins and Marianas to see all the required objects.

Seems not all the coral runways are not showing up.Going to check later to see if we made a mistake while putting the scenery in.
