Need New Joystick?

Folks, the joystick I'm now using (a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro) has been in my possession since about 2010, and has been in use practically every day. In the bank of six buttons on the left side of the base, two of them do not work and a third does only intermittently. When accessing FSX, as some have recommended I do NOT go straight to the chosen locale and aircraft but instead load the default powered glider first, then go to desired locale and load desired aircraft, hoping to get throttle settings to "keep" between the two locations and aircraft. Despite taking these precautions I have reached the point where MAP quivers and moves 7 to 8 points up and down the scale despite my best efforts to keep it at one spot; throttle input is shaky at best, and I've lost my 3/4 rear views to left and right rear. It would seem the time has come to change joysticks. I'm going to miss this one. In the same space of time I've gone through three keyboards, to put things in perspective.

This is a good joystick. Is the same one still made, or if not, what is the best equivalent? Thanks in advance.

Yes they are still being made.I have had
mine for the same amount of time.Great
stick.

If I was in your position I would get another Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I have gotten others, including a Saitek X-56 but keep coming back to my Logitech, its really hard to beat.

As a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro owner (it's now hooked to my MacBook Pro for PSX stand alone sessions) I can attest to its charms. Lately however, I have begun using a Thrustmaster Warthog Joystick and Throttle for DCS. The difference is marked (unfortunately, so is the price tag). Additionally, the Warthog Joystick does not have a rudder axis. Some cope by assigning a TQ slider to that axis. Fortunately, my current rudder pedals work perfectly with the combination. The Thrustmaster offers much more in terms of repeated reliability (hall effect sensors) and centering, but there are still times I marvel at the simple genius of the Logitech unit.

It is the second one I have purchased over a couple of decades- so that too speaks volumes. It it ain't broke (in this case figuratively)...

PS- the TM units do look and perform beautifully if you just want to splurge for a change
