New ship conversions released by Thudman

USS Casablanca CVE has been uploaded to the SOH library. It is a conversion of Stuarts277's CFS2 gmax source file to CFS3 format. Repaint skins for this ship can be found in the CFS2 section by Dombral and UncleTgt allowing creation of Taffy 3

Thank you very much for your work in converting this to CFS3. The light carriers have been missing in CFS3 for a long time. I hope you continue to convert other ships from cfs2 since it has been a long time since we have anyone uploading ships to cfs3.

Stuart277 did all the hard work creating the gmax source. Plan is to also convert his remaining escort carriers to CFS3.

I am avoiding the IJN ships to concentrate on the US ones. Next up is the Sangamon and then the Independence.

Stuart is doing a great job of populating the CFS2 navies and we get to benefit from his hard work

Stuart has done ships my son requested for his missions,the Independence is 1 of them.He is now doing the Atlanta Class cruisers for him.

Weren't the Independence Class used in the Pacific with the Fleet Carriers and not in the ETO?

I know that the Langley, Jan Jacinto, and the Belleu Wood were at the battle Leyte Gulf.

8 of the Independence Class were at Leyte Gulf.Princeton was sunk.

We have all Talon's notes on the Pacific naval battles that he used for his missions.Most he did for CFS2 because there was more interest.

For CFS3 we also have missions he never released for the AVG,CATF and USMC from Guadalcanal.There was no real interest,most in here are ETO people.

I know, but the Pacific is so rich in mission targets and interesting history. I enjoy putting together the theaters, hopefully the few folks that enjoy that part of the war will like the content of the theaters.

No Fibber those were escort carriers and smaller.The Independence Class were built on Cleveland Class cruiser hulls and were light carriers and sailed with the Fleet Carriers.They could carry over 30 aircraft and had speed enough to stay with the fleet.The escort carriers couldn't carry that many planes because some were made from merchant ships,so they were slow.They were used mainly for support for invasions and transporting aircraft in the Pacific.USS Long Island transported aircraft to Guadalcanal.They were 19 F4F's and 12 Dauntless's.

In CFS2 VN did many ships also,I know the Independence Class was done.They are older models and that's why I asked Stuart for new ones.

Are you just going to do the carriers or do others?He did some nice war ships for different Navies and nice merchant ships also.

I started converting Stuart277's ships because he included the source files making conversions easier. I want to fill holes in the CFS3 navies. You are correct about the other ships and his IJN merchant ships are works of art.
