Hi all,

Just grabed some stuff to build a new system

but after building I can't seem to get it to see the mouse, keyboard, monitor or DVD player (so can't load OS) I have checked and rechecked every wire harness plugin.

Does the system post? If it does go into BIOS and put the cd/dvd rom as first boot device, before you save and reboot put the XP disk in. Once you have the OS installed remember to go back into BIOS and put the HD/D as first boot device. You don't get any mouse control untill the OS is installed.

When I built my system I had to use a PS2 keyboard and mouse to load the OS and the drivers before I could use the USB mouse and keyboard I purchased.

the system does nothing except the fans run, I think I can hear the HDD spin it is SATA. there is nothing on the screen at all. the CD will not open the keyboard/mouse is PS/2 and do nothing do you guys think getting a SATA CD/DVD will soulve the problem?

Is everything plugged in? Did you forget to plug in the ATX 12 volt lead from the power supply to the motherboard?

Something I just noticed:banghead: The cpu you got might not work with the board being that the board is a 965 chipset (800, 1066 fsb) and the cpu is a newer wolfdale (1333 fsb). It is hit or miss with the older chipsets working with the newer cpu's. This is most likely why the system will not post.

I plugged in the 20/4 connector unless there is something else I might be missing? I also plug in the auxiliary 4 pin connector witch is 8 pin on the other side of the mobo from the atx 20/4 connector

I have not plugged in the mobo graphics card 4 pin (but have is passed trys )

when I start I get nothing no beep no keyboard lights nothing

AHHH CRAP!

I'm a freakin n()()()()b at this crap it's only the second system I've ever built and its been a few years..... when I was chossing my system they had intel MOBO combos but only 2 I might have wanted p4x2 or Q4 I choose to make my own combo and go with a Q2
I didn't want onboard video either

the site said the board was compatible with p-4 q-2 q-4 q-extreme so thought every thing was cool......

Yes the board will work with the older conroe 65nm cpu's. But the one you got is a 45nm and there are only a few 965 chipset boards that some manufactures put out a Bios update to run em. I would keep the cpu and replace the mobo with a good p35, x38, x48 or p45 mobo.
