Excellent!
Back in my hang gliding days (the 1970s) there was a pilot who flew with us sometimes who was a licensed falconer. Sometimes he's bring his hawk (I don't know what species it was, or don't remember) and he'd launch with the bird perched on the crosspiece of his control bar. Once airborne the hawk would fly off, soar with him, and from time to time return and perch on the control bar for a bit.
Sometimes the bird would fly around on its own and sometimes it would fly in loose formation with him. It never formated with any of the rest of us. I wish I'd gotten a photo!
