My FS2004 on my D drive works perfectly.
My 2nd install, on my C drive, when I try to run it, tells me

‘You’ll need a new app to open this ms-gaming overlay’

& that my computer has run out of available memory. - I have 80GB free! - then the sim crashes.

One of the mysteries of life (thanks Microsoft)

A Microsoft Update might be the culprit. I had one of those literally kill my FS9 install on the C Drive. I've been out of FS9 ever since, even tho I dabbled with FSX for a few months afterwards.

I'm always worried about what a Windows update might mess up. The one we had earlier this week didn't do FS any harm. But I run Win10, so if you run a different OS, maybe...:devilish:

I'm running Windows 11.
I just set up a fresh install on my D: drive, all works, now to copy the files & folders from the non-working sim across.
That will take some time to do...

It's not 'your' OS... it's 'their' OS. You just have a License to use it. The folks at Pike Place, via 'Windows Update', have free rein to keep you from trying to 'outwit' them by running Software that in their mind is outdated, no longer relevant and out of their direct control. They gave you a free pass with your initial Install, but try anything else, and their little gremlins will do everything in their algorithms to excise your 'tampering'.

Such is the case with today's "Cloud" Computing; you either play by their Rules and Mandates, or else. Apologies, but as Walter Cronkite always said, 'that's the way it is'.
