Gents, I apologize for my extended absenses lately. Altho I havn't been around a lot, I do check this site a couple times a day and I do care. However, we've(my wife and I) been experiencng quite a few setbacks and challenges lately. For the last six months at least I have been flying in FS9 aimlessly just to get my thoughts together. Last year as some of you know, I underwent treatment for HepatitisC and when the treatment was over there were no
virus visible in my blood. A couple months ago I went in for my six month checkup and the bloodtest showed that not ony are the virii back, but they are worse then ever, a huge viral load. This has been an enormous setback and I've been in a hell of a depression over it to the point where I've pretty much retreated from life altogether. I've posted about it in the staff forum but nowhere else.
My case has baffled the doctors and it is now on the top of all the hepC cases in this county...they are scratching their heads asking "why did this happen'? I did everything right and after the treatment was done there is no way I could have been re-infected. Hopefully when they answer this question it could help someone else to conquer this disease.
Meanwhile, they are working on a new kind of treatment that won't be available for at least two years. I suppose a liver transplant may be possible but we've only spoken a little about that. I am reluctant to go through the same treatment I finished a few months ago because it was pretty strenuous to say the least. I was pretty sick for the entire six months of treatment. I had a liver biopsy last week and they are now studying a chunk of my liver to find out what's going on.
Right now all I can say is if it's gonna kill me well, so be it and I am slowly coming out of my funk. None of us gets outta here alive so all I can do is keep on keepin on......with all this being said, I will try to be around a little more.

Mid

All can say as a doctor and as a friend is that you'll never be alone in this journey. You'll be in my prayers from now on.

Hang in there, Mid, miracles can and do happen. Don't lose hope whatever takes place!

It's about our reaction, it's not about what happens

Hi Middle,

I'am shocked to read that your life is turned upside down (again). I wish you a speedy recovery!

At the same time: I'am very glad to read that you found your way up again. Personally I share your view: one day we will go anyway. So when that's a fact, in the meantime we better make our life as wonderful as can be. It's not what happens, it's our reaction that makes the difference.

So please make fun: get outside (if you are physically able to) and enjoy family and friends. Have fun. Just start doing things you liked to do in the past (adjusted to abilities and possibilities) and you will see that the fun will return little by little (take babysteps; don't expect a big bang, that can only bring disappointment).

Thank you for your brave message. Keep your head up. You are not alone: a lot of people are with you, in mind and heart!

Jeez Mid! That's a whole lotta rubbish to throw at one guy. But you sound like you have very supportive family and friends, which is a tremendous help. In my time on SOH, I've realised that it is more than CFS3. You'll have here a great bunch of people rooting for you. Whatever happens, your CFS3 chums will help. Keep looking in, to see what us bunch of Yahoos are up to (and we're doing quite a lot).

As Remcoc said a day at a time, a day at a time.

All my thoughts are with you

Jeff

Thanks, Gents for all your kind thoughts and words. I was just thinking of Talon and hoping he is well soon. It seems that sometimes are harder than others....all I can do is take it a day at a time. mid

I hope all goes well for you middle. I had something like that when I was a very young child. It took me 4 years to get over it completely. So I wish you well. All the best.
