Sea Vixen looking smart, even after its mishap, crew seem fairly confident that she will fly again without to much trouble, although a certain amount of fundraising will be involved, i help'd out by purchasing a couple of bottle's of Wadworths Swordfish ale, a very nice blend of beer and rum, all proceeds going to the restoration :biggrin-new:
 
That's a first for me too. Seen the black one a few times (IRL) but never seen the other one with it.. not to my knowledge anyway!!

Incidentally.. do you know where MB are now? I thought Charwell had closed.

Ian, you have no compassion. I've known for months how good the show was shaping up to be, have been enjoying the Wessex weather all week but knew all along I couldn't make it, even when I drove past last Monday. I hope you had a great time, you blighter!

Seriously, thanks for posting. I've enjoyed Yeovilton Air Day several times and hope to again...
 
Thanks Tom, its a long drive from where i live, about 4 hour's, so i will wait a few years until the navy gets their nice new F35's and a full compliment of Merlins until i visit again. :wavey:

When I finally get to the UK I will definitely have to visit the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton as well as the IWM at Duxford. :encouragement: I'll take the opportunity to put in a shameless plug for our own National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida. Anybody who's a fan of Naval Aviation needs to visit at least once, you'll be overwhelmed by the displays.

Yes.. Chalgrove is correct. I don't even know if the place I typed exists!:biggrin-new:

I'd heard that planning permission had been sought and was in the process of being given to build housing on the site. My immediate reaction was 'what about Martin Baker'? It was only a stones throw from where I used to live in Berkshire (right on the Berkshire/Oxfordshire border in Streetley) and I popped up there a couple of times to see what was going on. Never saw the Meatboxes in the 12 years I lived there but their King Air (Queen Air) was quite a familiar sight and was parked up outside on one occasion.

For anyone who wonders where Chalgrove is.. take off from the 01 runway at Benson and you'll be over it in a few seconds;)

If you visit Duxford, try to make it when the Flying Legends air show is on (you've missed it this year as it was on at the weekend just gone). Classic aircraft and old warbirds (10 Spitfires in formation opened the show this year!). Rarely anything newer than 1950. One of the best classic aircraft airshows in the world.
