P3D V3 - vs. FSX Wow

centuryseries

SOH-CM-2023
As a newcomer to P3D, and after buying a GTX 970 as suggested here on this forum, all I can say is wow, it's amazing what Lockheed have done with ESP/FSX. Really impressive work, so much more realistic visuals, and fantastic frame rates. As for the 3D moving waves in the sea dependant on wind speed and cloud shadows on the ground and exterior of the aircraft, just simply breath taking!

Glad you like it! P3D really has gone a long way, and the most exciting aspect is, there's more to come!

Cheers,
Mark

I was a bit skeptical but went with the dev license and so far am pretty impressed as well. Frame rates in the SFO area stay at my fps limit (100% traffic, no addon airport yet), which would never happen in FSX. Clouds look much improved over previous versions, but the water is still static with any altitude.

How do you mean the water is static? On my PC with the new graphics card I'm getting 3d waves moving up down and in the wind direction at low level, dependent on wind speed of course.

I may be incorrect, but I believe he is really talking about the Sun glistening off the water. At a certain elevation the reflection appears to be static. I think it starts happening after about 2500ft. I compare it too a glass table with a wavy-marble effect if that makes any sense. But if you zoom far in the wave action is there but is cancelled out by the lighting.

But it is still way ahead of what my former FSX had to offer as a sim. Hopefully there will be less P3D vs. FSX as P3D has really come into its own.

I agree! If I didn't know any better I'd say this was the next FS version it's so much better, in so many ways visually. I love the shadow cast on the aircraft as you fly under clouds, it looks so life like!
