pCARS and others.

NASCAR in the rain.
Nifty rain effects on the camera lens.

Shame the only NASCAR is a 'Chevrolet' under another name.

Best cars in the sim.

'Formula 3' at Bathurst, drove hard, finished 15th out of 16 starters, thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Formula Ford, another of the best in pCARS.

And because pCARS has a pretty ordinary selection of cars NFS remains a favorite.
BMW 'Batmobile'.

And now for something completely ridiculous that handles like a Rhine barge.

How well done is the single player side of things, and how is the AI? On the NASCAR mod, how well do they run on a oval track?

The pCars AI had a major overhaul recently, making it quite realistic IMHO. At the moment the oval tracks have been removed from the betas, maybe they'll return at a later stage or as an add-on pack.

The Formula C is one of my favourite cars at the moment too, had some great races at Suzauka, Imola and Monaco with that. Shame the AI for this particular car is not yet done though..
The GT3 cars do have great AI and I had a lot of fun at Spa in those cars:

And speaking of rain and water effects:

Single player varies from good to bloody terrible, the AI (as Ferry mentioned) for the GT classes are very good to good, while the Formula C AI is just Feral!
Can't really say much about ovals because I avoid them, except for some early testing.
I think, again as Ferry mentioned above, that they might return as DLC, considering the amount of work to be finished and a release date (supposedly) before the end of this year, it makes sense to place some projects on the 'To Do Later' list.
Only having a single 'Old' NASCAR vehicle to run might be another consideration.
Being 'Old School' open wheel racing, I really enjoy both Formula C (aka Formula 3') and Formula 'Rookie' (aka Formula Ford'), despite the need to tweak the AI settings.
:triumphant:

Try a quick race at Monaco, and watch 'em all pile up in the first corner, in the hairpin or in the chicane at the exit of the tunnel.. By lap three you'll be at least two laps ahead of #2...

But they will sort that out soon I guess!

what is NFS?

'Need For Speed Shift 1'.
Came out a few years ago but the modding community have beaten it into pretty good shape over time.
With some careful setting up the cars are less twitchy 'Arcade Style', so I'm enjoying running everything at full settings.
:biggrin-new:

Shift 1 or 2 I assume?

Bought part 1 for a few bucks a couple of years ago, but never liked it, and with pCars in it's current stage no need to go back!

Shift 1 is very drivable with the No Grip Mods, Shift 2 needs a lot of work but the same people are working away at it as well.
I'm not very happy with PCars at the moment Ferry.
The UI is a disaster area and the present content is (almost) a shambles of incompatible vehicles.
I did say 'almost', but IMHO the DTM Benz is a waste of space, as is the Ford GT Mk.IV (what idiot compiled the sound file?) and despite my enthusiasm for the Sauber C9 it's another lone star.
I've tweaked camera settings and viewpoints all over the place and can't get much satisfaction, while the 'Autopit' (or whatever) is as dumb as a bag of rocks.
The lines between 'Racing Simulation' and 'Console Game' are becoming just a little too close, but I'm persisting.
I like the GT cars as well, but the RUF is a poor substitute for a Porsche.
Be VERY INTERESTING to see what appears at the release date.
:encouragement:

Thanks for the info on pCars. Going to watch the reviews after it comes out, hope they get the last few problems sorted. I bought AC, wish they would have given us some sort of manual with it, takes a bit to figure out how to make adjustments to the sim. They have a few problems to work out also, but like pCars, it looks great!

On the other hand, this little beast handles just like the real thing, no power low down, then it comes in with big thump and bounces off the limiter, one day I will count the number of times I've had to change gears in a single lap of Bathurst!

I had to give this Zonda a run just because the paint was so outrageously over the top!

And the 'RUF' aka 'Porsche' is becoming more of a 'Porsche' after the last couple of updates.
