pCars, or Project C.A.R.S. as it is officially called.

AFAIK summum of racing games today. It's still Beta. You can become a member and play the game (online only) and post suggestions to make it even better.Personally i haven't a clue, apart from seeing more vintage race cars, because my jaw is already on the floor everytime i load it up.

Thought i'd fill you in because nothing about pCars turned up here when i searched for it.

Hope you enjoy the screenies.

Cheers,
Jan

Still very much a beta, and while I'm impressed with the progress of the sim the business concept is not one I'm inclined to be part of.
Buying into such a project on the premise that one becomes a 'shareholder' and receives a dividend in the far distant future is not something that I'm enthused about.
:kilroy:

That looks awesome! Love the cars, textures, scenery. We used to build and race Go-Karts (my sons, g'son and I). Won a few state championships and placed 3rd at Charlotte International Speedway one year. Loved setting up the karts for qualifying, much different than for the race. :)

I got into sims via Nascar 99. Loved that game! You had to setup suspension for each race and with my racing background, that was a lot of fun. Then, sadly, FS took over and ruined me. :)))

Love how it looks, but since it's being developed by the guys that have done both Shift parts, I staying away from it for now.

Can't believe they're doing an Ariel Atom, the actual vehicles are assembled in my back yard at VIR's technical facilities.

Didn't know about that yet. I payed 25 Euro for a one year team membership. What else could i do seeing those screenies of the 'Leonus F68'. The Lotus 49 happens to be my all time favourite race car. It's possibly the 49B that they have depicted here but maybe i can get them to remove those wings.

I can only say i am extremely impressed with pCars, already as it is now, can't be without anymore.

Cheers,
Jan

Same here, Milton !

My fav race game has always been GPL because i am really only interested in vintage race era from the 1950's/1960's ( same as with aviation i guess... ) I call myself very lucky that these pCars devs didn't stick with contemporary race stuff only like many others do. The sight and sound of that 'Leonus F68' going round the track is nothing short of a dream come true for me ( as is the annoucement of the PMDG DC-6.... not sure what i've done to deserve such a treat... :mixedsmi: )

Btw, thanks very much for sending the revised Stoof flightmodel, Milton ! I'll try it out asap ! :salute:

Cheers,
Jan

Ah! Ok! Didn't occur to me yet... ( due to constant misbehaviour i have been banned indefinately from all race tracks for more than a year now... back to Gmax.. :p: )

I loaded up Shift ( didn't know about Shift2 neither.. ) and now i see, definately, yes. It does resemble pCars very much indeed. The graphics and sounds are fantastic and i love the 'perfect line' ( not much of a virtual Jim Clark myself really, just no time enough ) but i don't like the GUI to say the least and there's no car that i really like.

If someone would've showed me this video http://youtu.be/DK8P7s-LecU and told me this is GPL 2012 i would've believed it and be in utter ecstacy. It's not GPL 2012 but i'm in ecstacy nontheless about this 'Leonus F68 Cromwell V8'. :isadizzy:

Any idea why they've givin it a fictional name instead of just Lotus 49B, Ferry ? Has the copyright mumbo jumbo entered the virtual racing world too ?

What exactly is your gripe about Shift/Shift 2 ?....

What's you fav race dish today ?...

Groeten,
Jan

It's great fun to drive it !

I saw it on Top Gear. Amazing car. I believe it has been the fasted round the track at one time, if it not still is...

cheers,
Jan

Of course it has! Lawyers everywhere that could see it as 'easy money'!

What exactly is your gripe about Shift/Shift 2 ?....

The physics mainly, the crappy AI behaviour too.

What's you fav race dish today ?...

Still dividing my time between rFactor and GTR2 but now finally getting into F1-2011! Didn't like it pre-patch and didn't have time after the patch was released.

BTW What's up with the helmet in the Caterham, and what name have they given the Audi R18..?

My Word...

...those are spectacular shots!
That Atom is surely "As Real as it Gets" wait a minute, that's somebody else's line from when flightsims were the game of choice...
Glowing disks... those kerb textures! fantastic.

So, what's the deal? how do you subscribe, and are they worth driving, or do you just drool at the screens??

Just read that they're working on it, getting a license from Lotus. Ariel Atom, Gumpert and Caterham are named as they are already. Read too that they'll do a proper Lotus 49 too ! :jump:

Ah, Ok! Have to say it's the only game i can actually win something...

I liked rFactor2 for a day or two, until i stumbled over pCars... I think i won't bother about F1-2011. Lot of problems with F1-2010 getting my wheel set up. And it's a bridge waaay to fast for me anyway. :icon_eek:

cheers,
jan

Probabely still an 'alpha' helmet. Looks like this now :

Audi R18 is called Asano X4 Touring..

One more of the latest Ariel Atom. There are 3 versions.

You can read all about it and sign up here : http://www.wmdportal.com/

Are they worth driving ?.... Man, i don't think i've ever had this much fun with a race game ! Maybe not even with GPL and that says something !

Mind you, i am still and probabely will always remain a bloody amateur when it comes to race games so your mileage may vary literally and figurally.

cheers,
jan

'Grip Yeah Falcon' and 'Freestone' tyres?
I really detest the 'Legal Fraternatity' and all who sail in it with complete and utter venom.
Tom Hanks was so right!!
As for pCars, I might have a change of heart and sign on, for somewhere around A$120.00 plus loose change [Lets hear it for the strong A$!] it might be worth getting Senior Member access.

Well that describes me too, alas.
My fear is this looks so good, I might never return to my cherished flightsim... there's only so much time in one day.

Wombat, surely you would want to stretch just a little, to have your own sub-forum??

Wing_Z, the original intention [so I believe] was for 'Racers Paddock' to be a slot for just this type of subject, maybe we'll return it to the intended status.
I can't 'stretch' to anything much right now, it may be necessary for me leave SOH for an extended period if not permanently.
My friends in the 'Terrorist Group' that we can't talk about are promoting me and I'm thinking long and hard on the subject.
FWIW, the 'new' [ORCA] section is land based for a specific task which I could handle without breaking into a sweat!!!

As for driving expertise, the attached shot says it all!!!
