Pilots talk with their hands...

... and, apparently, so do wanna-be FS pilots... The guy on the left talking with his hands was one of our (VA-94) pilots in the 1980s . The guy on the right doing the same is me. We were talking about how the FA-18 does that super high AOA, amazingly slow pass during air shows. :) This was at our VA-94 reunion last week at KNLC.

Oh, as a side note, see the canopy? It was changed recently, and they haven't had time to paint it black to match the rest of the "cool-beans" CAG paint job. That's because they are a working squadron... This means you re-painters out there have lots of "wiggle-room" when the topic turns to "accuracy" and "those planes were never painted that way!" arguments. Yes they were... :)

International pilot language for sure, and I guess that includes FS pilots. Covers on the flightline??? Just kidding and great info on the canopy rail paint.

Here's a pic of the same plane, before the canopy change. The squadron (VFA-94) was very nice to us. They took some of their Saturday to entertain us (and make some money for the squadron picnic fund selling SWAG...). The CO, XO, and CMC was there, as well as a few others. I was impressed by that. We've been thanking them profusely on FB ever since. We were making the same jokes about covers on the flight line, FOD in our pockets, etc. It was a good time.

Must be great to go back and visit the current incarnation of your former Squadron. My 2 previous Hornet Commands VFA-305 and VFA-203 have both been dis-established ... still in touch with so many former shipmates though, and am happy to have that. Mike :wavey:
