Is it realistic for a WWII warplane to lift the tail or even "nose-over" at a dead stop with the brakes on at full power?

Some of my aircraft can do this...I'm not sure if that's cool or not.

I know some modern small planes I've seen at airshows can and do do it...but a heavy WWII fighter?

What do you guys know about this?

I 'd say it's perfectly feasable but preferably to be avoided :costumes:
 
I've heard a BF-109 will lift one of its main gears if full power is applied with the brakes on.
 
Most single-engine fighters will, at least by the end of the War. That's why you often see erks lying on the tailplanes while the engine is being test-run. If you bear in mind that at one end, you have a huge lump of metal putting some 1,000 plus horses into the air, nothing much at the other end, and the undercart acting as a pivot, then over you'll go. Much to the amusement of everybody else on the airfield.

CFS doesn't model this frightfully well - it should happen more easily. Also, it should be far easier to nose over when using the wheel-brakes at speed.
 
I have read an account of a B-17 which made an emergency landing on a pacific island runway which under normal conditions would not be of sufficient length to take off from. Once the B-17 was repaired, all unnecessary items were removed to decrease the weight and with full brakes they ran up the rpms until the tail came off the ground and then started their takeoff run.
 
The planes that came stock CFS3 planes I have not had that to happen to me . But the planes that I download from Mud Pond yes it has happend to me. They have different aircraft cfg and xpd files. Then the same stock planes in CFS3 (Boosted HP). I will add that when thowes 2 files are changed you can't play on line with them unless the host/ player has the same files in the plane that have been changed.
