Problem with the V-2 Connie

I down loaded the new Connie from Avsim. I installed it though I am not able to open anything up in the little squares. The engines won't start even when pushing the Ctrl E key. Can you give me some ideas what to look for to fix this problem

have you read the entire manual?

Ctrl-E does not work for this connie. You have to start it manually for everything to work correctly.

i'm not sure about the little square things. Make sure to follow the install instructions very carefully. Did you put the gauge files into the gauge folder?

Manual start up procedure on the Constellation is one of the many realistic and rewarding parts of this great a/c. It is well worth taking some time and trial and error to figure it out.

yeah, i tried this button as well when i first installed the connie. But it didn't flip on all the correct switches (at least in my version). The fuel pumps were left at "off" but for some reason the engine still starts. Also, using this method, the throttle at 100% will produce max RPM, but the plane wouldn't roll forward for a very long time....

the manual process is the only one that works for me right now.....but it's also rewarding as the above poster stated

Actually the trial and error part can be greatly reduced by using the built in tool tips....anytime you hover the mouse over the starter button to crank an engine you will get info what is missing for a good start.

Starting the R-3350s from cold is indeed one of the great realism features built into the model...and you cheat yourself if you don't at least try it.

1. Set Parking Brake ( This enables Ground Power so you have time to play )
2. Master and Ground Power on.
3. Set Spark control to retard on the FE sub panel for cowl flaps, carb heat and prop control ( the prop symbol )
4. Set all Mags to the off position
5. Open Cowl flaps 100%
6. Set Engine Starter to #3 Engine.
7. Engage Starter Switch to rotate engine a few revolutions to avoid fluid lock.
8. Set Throttle #3 to 4-8%
9. Set Mixture appropriate for barometric pressure or use the SM icon.
10. Set Fuel Pump #3 to high
11. Set MAGs #3 to Both ( Aural confirmation for engine start will only play in this sequence )
12. Use primer as needed ( again hovering over the starter switch will tell you if it is needed )
13. Engage starter until engine starts.
14. Observe oil pressure #3 rising ... if not shut her down and call your mechs.
15. Switch Gen# 3 on.
16. Set #3 throttle to about 10% for a cold engine idle @ 1000RPM

Repeat 6 - 16 for engines 4, 2 and finally #1

I have tested the Starliner in both FSX and FS9 and all icons work in my system.
Try re-installing her following the readme to the letter and see if that fixes it.
I am guessing that you are missing the associated gauges from the sim icons.

I've noticed problems with the icons as well, particularly
on the FE panel. They work initially and at some point
they cease to work. I've not had the time to try to isolate
this behavior but there is definately something strange
going on ( WinXP SP2, FSX Acceleration )

I can only repeat what Sunny said-->try to reinstall
-->doesnt work try this-->
Decompile the L1649.cab and move ALL files into a folder (called
L1649A) you create in the panel folder

Try again.the icons should stay

I have exactely same set up WinXP SP2, FSX Acceleration with Nvidia8800GTX and on my side everything works fine.Just the shift to 2D side views sometimes blows up(but this is an FSX problem not the planes problem

The cab is already a folder..I pretty much do that first off
on any new aircraft installs. I also understand that it is most likely
an FSX problem.
I'll try a re-install but methinks the issue may be the way
FSX is determining the active window or some such thing.
I'll have to run some tests to see if I can create the 'no click'
situation by switching the views/windows systematically.

Nope, I've the same issues in FS9, icons not responding and erratic behaviour of some switches, knobs etc. specially in the A/P panel...

Very frustrating as this is truly a work of art !
