• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Question before I buy V3

So coming from V2 I can usually direct a FSX installer to the V2 folder and install without little to no issues. How does this work in V3? Read the addon stuff is kept outside the V3 folder...

FSX and V2.5 OOMs is killing me.
 
You can still do the same, and it will work as before. Many P3dv3 payware addons still do this, despite it being against recommended practice. Any issues may come when P3d gets an update.
I use a dummy "P3d-user" folder and install into that, with the relevant paths added to the appropriate cfgs.
Works for most things, but some more complex addons (PMDG, A2A etc) may need to be installed into the real P3d folder.
 
No, TackPack is not available for v3. It seems VRS is not so motivated to make it v3 compatible for the moment. They said they want to wait for a "stable" version... which means we probably won't see any TacPack for v3 until the v4 is announced by LM...
