Question for PC gurus

Terry

SOH-CM-2016
I ordered a new PC tower and intend to put my old hard drive
in it as a secondary drive. The old drive has all my FS files and
an operating system. Will I be able to run FS from the old drive or
do I have to start with a fresh install on the new drive and copy
over the files from the old drive? The old drive has a Vista 32 bit
system while the new drive is Vista 64 bit. :help:

You will not have any registry entries related to FS on the new machine so you will have to reinstall.

What you may be able to do is install FS then use the a registry tool to change the path to FS and make it the other drive and your old install.

This little tool is for editing the Registry path of FS9

http://vistaoz.org/dist/fs9path_utility.zip

If it does not work then just copy the files to your new install and change the registry path back to the recently installed path.

Keep in mind you may have some payware that requires you reload it as it may have registry values that will not reflect where the install is on the second drive.

All in all you should not loose anything so it should be a good exercise.

Thanks for the tips. Seems like the best way to go is a fresh install and just copy over the useful files. The old install was getting rather slow and messy anyway.
