Radar and ships

Shessi

SOH-CM-2025
Hi Folks,
I've had a good look round, and can't find any surface radar based utilities.

What I'm specifically looking for is an aircraft based sea/land surface search radar, to locate ships etc. I use Eric Marciano's radar for ac searching, but unfortunately the radar loses contact as soon as the ac is very close to the ground or lands (even though it's still moving). If there is a surface ship(?) based radar then maybe it could be use in an ac?

Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks.

Cheers

Unfortunately this is a trait of radar, to have bad masking from the great amount of ground return. Some ground clutter relief using Doppler is possible, but not that effective in the above mentioned situation.

Good luck! T

Thanks T,
Ground clutter radar effect, I expect that's what they did to emulate the fact that radar loses contact in ground returns, so it was simple to just get it to lose contact every time an ac touches down.
