Remembering Kyle Busch

Been reading what doctors were saying about how he died. Embolism, maybe? The way it was described, it sounded like Ebola symptoms.

Really sad, he was only 41. My late wife died in a very similar fashion, but she was also undergoing last-ditch chemo for terminal cancer, so her immune system was poor. She got an upper respirator infection, treated with antibiotics, seemed to be almost completely recovered until one morning she was in severe pain, low blood oxygen saturation. Went to the hospital by ambulance, found she had severe pneumonia, two days later she died from septic shock. It happens and it happens fast.

I had met Kyle at Sears Point, or whatever they call it now, a kid i grew up with, his older brother was my pitman for two seasons, I sold him my car and I started driving sprint cars for a guy. Back to the younger brother, he was working for a race engine shop out of Sacramento CA, they were building engines for, I think INDY cars, Allen himself built engines for 5 indy 500 wins. The series went to all Honda(?) engines, and Allens boss had switched to that series exclusively and ended up going out of service, NASCARs Joe Gibbs racing, JGR had noticed Allen and as he was submitting applications for work in NASCAR, JGR snatched him up. It was when Kyle first started with JGR, Allen had built all of Kyles truck and busch series engines. When he went full time in cup, they kept Allen on his engines. Then the Toyota TRD came about, so Allen is still in the engine shop over there, They can do more then just assemble the TRD engines, but ive no idea what they do. If any of you remember when JGR had an engine blow up in the dyno room, that was Allen and one of his engines, he got a burn injury when trying to put the fire out. His dad was a volunteer firefighter in the same department my dad and I were in.
Back to meeting Kyle, dad and I were given t9ickets to a race at Sears Point, oh Sonoma raceway park is it called? So we were in a beer both and he came in, it was a bud hospitality tent, I'm not sure why he came in, but several drivers had come through the tent, there were something like 8 to 10 sponsor hospitality tents in the area, our seats were at the bottom of the hill just where they turn right and go down into the S's, we had to walk a bit to get there from the tents but we also had preferred parking with a shuttle, but if was close enough to walk. Dad had had his front part of his right foot amputated due to a freak waterskiing accident, so trust me, we were close to the track lol. When Kyle passed through the tent, dad called out and asked if he knew Allen and Kyle turned his head and said he will be right with us, after more autographs, he asked for privacy and came and sat at a table with us for a few moments, min utes really, maybe 5 or 6 minutes which was a very long time for him to do as he had all this stuff to do. But it was pretty cool. Funny thing, he of course didnt know my name but he knew of me as I give Allen a hard time now that hes working in a fullfendered part of the sport, when i started i'd asked him to join my team, he flat refused saying never will he ever work on or support any team with fullfendered cars,, only open wheel racing for him, he wouldnt even help his brother when he bought my car lol. So i give him a lot of crap to this day.
I have a weird but funny story about Rusty Wallace from that track as well.
