<section class="entry-content clearfix" itemprop="articleBody"> Simona de Silvestro has been confirmed to drive for Nissan Motorsport in the 2017 V8 Supercars, replacing Dale Wood.

“Today I’m announcing I’m going to be driving for Nissan Motorsport in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. I’m really excited to be joining the team, and I can’t wait for next season,” said de Silvestro.
“In joining Nissan Motorsport, I think the biggest thing is being a factory driver. It’s great to have the trust from Nissan Motorsport to give me the chance to drive for them. I really enjoyed driving for them at Bathurst, I really enjoyed the car, so there were a lot of things I really liked. And the team as well, it’s a great team, you see there’s a lot of potential in the team. So working with them hopefully will bring a lot of success.”
The Swiss driver comes from a background of Indycar and Formula E, including taking part in the two past Bathurst 1000 races, most recently driving for Nissan Motorsport.
“This is a big day for Nissan Motorsport,” said team co-owner Todd Kelly. “Simona’s performance at Bathurst this year was outstanding. You could see in the data the amount of potential in Simona. So next year will be very exciting.”

And about time too. The lady is a very good driver and needs a good drive long term.
:encouragement:

Simona (IMHO) would have proven herself to be faster than Danica if she had been on a team with the caliber of Andretti racing...that Danica raced with.

Congrats to her!

Yeah, but who is hotter? Just kidding, we have paddock/umbrella girls for that!

Well,
When you compare De Silvestro and Legge's Atlantic series performance to Danica, both Silvestro and Legge outperformed Danica hands down.....Yet Danica went to Rahal-Letterman and De Silvestro and Legge had to deal with back-marker teams...
