First some shots from Long Beach Daugherty Field at 0800 PDT. Left coasters call this atmospheric scene the Marine Layer.

(a) The early morning early risers: Taco, Roman, Jeff, Wombat, and PRB
(b) Ready for the Starting Flag at Long Beach: Bry, Eamonn, Rob, salt_air, Taco, Roman, DC, Jeff, and Wombat.
(c) The Race is climbing up into the California sunrise.

At Republic Field, we had a "Flying Finish" with the racers passing low between the Pylons with a deafening roar of their engines. (Thanks to Roman for the scenery.)

(a) Jeff and Bry rushing down Rwy 14 only seconds apart.
(b) Just a minute later, Wombat speeds by at full throttle.
(c) Then Rob who is apparently reviewing his check list while the crowd cheers.
(d) And roaring by low on the deck is Lowflyer -- showing off his gear.

More from the finish line.

(a) Here are the first three place pilots: Jeff, Bry, and Wombat (Ed) landing after their exciting flying finish.
(b) Roman and his handsome tribute to Paul I.
(c) Ratty, the first Accu-sim pilot to finish the race, lands after the finish. A deserving Rookie of the Year.
(d) The wing-waggling display of RedGreen as the Twin Allisons add their distinctive whistle to thrill the crowd.

A beautiful setting at the end of a long day.

(a) The crowd awaits the arrival of DC. Bry, Roman, Rob, RedGreen, MM, and Eamonn. Jeff, Dave, Ratty, salt_air, and Lowflyer are on the other side of the runway. Rob is manning the RaceCon tower.
(b) DC demonstrates his famous fast and safe "DH.88 Comet" landing technique.
(c) The Sunset Barbeque

A marvelous celebration of accomplishment.
