A few containers of samples donated to the tribal chief. Bundled the reporters back onboard except for one who decided to stay and exchange recipes with the tribal cook.

Off quickly to WA1A Sorong

Long-ish leg over shark-infested waters but safely down at Sorong.

Once again the pax were out in a flash taking pictures of the area.
Seems like there are a lot of broken aircraft bits tossed in the trees...

So Long Sorong

Extremely long time on the ground. Apparently the 'journalists' got into town and were interviewing some of the locals including a few young ladies who were very impressed with the "generosity" of previous race crews.. which led to an altercation with the ladies' friends, which.. well, the boys came back to the airport in a bit of a hurry and were glad that we could swivel the Martin top turret around to face the road...

So long Sorong - we are off to WABB

On the ground at WABB.

Looks like a nice spot for dinner. Maybe the magazine boys will think to have showers too...

The taxi's waiting, he's blowing his horn...

Departing the comforts of WABB for a Hayfield in the jungle

Arrived at HFD (Hayfield)

Navigator given ration of water and one can of Spam, a road map of Australia and a pink slip.
7.5 min of fuel remaining.

Well, the 'walking cargo' was none too happy. Bit of a rough ride and all they could see on approach was jungle but they are off-loaded safely for another party with the locals. (Hope these aren't the sort to take cranial souvenirs...)

Arrived at Gusap (GSP)

Always liked that B-26 in FS9. Didn't know it was tweaked for FSX. Have to look it up. I have the B-26 by "Radioman" for FSX. Not a bad ride.

Arrived AYTK

After rereading the discussion in the primary thread re: weather, I decided to run this leg as a test of FSrealWX lite.
After the series of clear/blue legs, this was a definite change and improvement(?) - layers of cloud, rain on departure, low ceilings and haze at destination - broke out at 1200ft, thankfully with an NDB to home to.

It may not be as benign, but it certainly is more interesting!

Continuing with FSrealWX lite...

Rabaul to MKO (Malekolon)
- hope that's not some harbinger of gastro-intestinal distress-

Arrived at MKO.
More showers and haze necessitating a circling approach as the Marauder doesn't have the same aerobatic capability as the little toys.
