I actually started with the AI version, mostly to make static models to populate the ramp, but I figured I'd like to have a flyable plane too, just in case some day I have some time to do some flying. I'm going to put RNAS Hal Far into the Suez Crisis too, but I don't think that will instigate any new paint jobs.
 
You're probably right. I have no expertise in the details of the evolution of the RAF roundel. I just left the ones that were on the base skin I painted the markings onto, one of the ones that came with the model.
