TacPack 1.4.2.4 for P3D

Now available in the usual way.

The last point looks interesting.

I happens to have the "professional" edition of P3d, and I have been told that TacPack is only functioning on the standard version of P3d.

On the other hand, I have also been told, that the only difference between the "professional" version and the standard version, is a small watermark in the corner of of the screen.

Can anyone clarify, that this really is the only difference ? And do anyone know if TacPack is usuable in the "pro" version too ?

Best regards

Soeren

Soeren,
I'm not 100% sure but I thought it was a licencing issue, as in "professionals" don't as a rule use their simulator to shoot thing down. I think they have Professional Plus for that, which I also think retails at about £2000+!

This may be just a licence matter.
If VRS told that TacPack is not supported with P3D Professional, it surely means that TacPack will work, but you are not allowed to use TacPack for a professional reason, which means "profit-generating" activities (paid trainings etc...).

Hi Ian and Daube

Thank for trying to clarify the difference. That is, if there actually is any :biggrin-new:

Maybe I should just try to buy the TacPack, and install it. And see what happens

I'm 99% sure that it won't work in P3d Pro, despite it being almost identical to the academic version. There are checks that can be made to identify the P3d version, so it's possible for a dev to prevent an addon running in specific versions.

According to VRS's forum it does check for the PD3 version. I decided that buying the Academic version of PD3 was the best solution.

Has anyone tried to install it into p3d pro just to find out?......

I used to have TacPack for FSX, but after changing over to P3D v2.5 Pro it's become useless.

Will check what the price is of the latest version, but there are other addons on the horizon that have priority.

There are however tweaks to be found on the net that will make other applications think/believe that your install is whatever version you like. But that is somewhat dodgy...
