technical question

hi,
somebody told me that if i have two hd drives, i should put the game to on the second drive so it might work 10-20% faster.
can anybody confirm that?
so i have to sata drives each 500gb. first one partition c,e with my xp sp3 on c. second d,f. is it worth a try to uninstall BHAH and put it on d or f partition of the second drive because it's completely empty? would be great if it's true. there is no raid0 connection or something between the drives.
if some of the people here with some knowledge could tell if it's worth a try, i would uninstall it from c and put it on f.

thank you in advance

Only if your windows swap file is on the same drive as your OFF (do a google on windows swap file), would moving OFF to a different drive be worth while.

Hello,
and then it depends on whether you have two virtual drives, meaning two partitions on one physical disk, or two physical disks. As Pol said, with two physical drives it will not make much sense i'm afraid, or only with the swap file on the same HD.

Hmmmm.....and here I am with my OS on a 36 Gig Raptor......all my proggies on a RAID-0, and another 36 Gig Raptor with a dedicated pagefile on it and nothing else :typing:

Then there's that useless Terabyte eSata that I use for imaging, storage and other worthless things like that.

Think I'll leave it that way. It sounds cool.......;)

thank you all, guys,
so if i understood correctly it might work better, if i have two physical harddiscs, putting it on the second, empty one and set the swap file completely to the drive BHAH is?

Howdy Creaghorn.

It's the opposite. Keep your swap file and your BHAH install on separate physical drives. I have a 120 gig drive that has my operating system, work applications (word processor, email client etc) and the swap file. Then I have a 500 gig drive for my games.

Thank you Zommoz,
it's worth a try. so i will leave the swapfile on the same harddisc where the os is, and BHAH i am going to put on the other physical harddisc. i will try everything to get the max fps out of it as my rig is able to. so i am going to uninstll now BHAH and CFS and put it on the other drive. i will report if it's going to go bis smoother. thank you all guys.
