I've been involved with flight simulation since 2003 or so. During the past three years I haven't been as active, but I still try to keep up with the latest addons and improvements.
It constantly amazes me how detailed simulation has become. The distinction between reality and simulation is becoming more difficult all the time! I was watching that latest RAZBAM T-2 Buckeye video from Mirage. Small details, like the dirt on the tires as the aircraft taxies along the flight line. It's almost magical how real it all is!
I vividly remember working on great aircraft (such as the Corsair II, Crusader, Skyhawks, Vigilantes, Phantoms, etc....). Flight simulation allows me to "relive" those days. Even better, I am able to fly those jets. The simulation is so realistic that I can almost smell the JP-5, feel the heat from the tailpipe exhaust, and feel the rumble from the engines at high power.
It's fun to fantasize, isn't it?
Thank you to ALL the developers (freeware AND payware!) who create these wonderful addons. Thank you to everyone in the flight simulation community who contribute to this wonderful, and incredibly FUN hobby!
