TJ's P-40 test runs - NON PARTICIPANT

Blues is Life
Hey guys,
I flew the first leg of the Gold course in the A2A Accusimmed P-40. I was curious if it would have the same fuel issue that the P-51 did with Duenna. I will just fly a few legs just to get some averages for flight data, unless you guys would like me to fly the whole course for your data collection.

Here is the data. Duenna did in fact have the same issue with the P-40 as it did the P-51. Excess fuel returns to the P-40's reserve tank and in a sense is 'refueled'. The fuel tank arrangement is different than the P-51, I taxi/takeoff/climb on reserve for 10 mins, then switch to main tank, then back to reserve once main is exhausted. Like the P-51, I don't fly with the aft fuselage tank full because it adversely affects CG and handling. I used max climb power of 35" 2600RPM Auto-Rich and max cruise power setting of 27" 2300RPM Auto-Lean. The P-40's Allison is quite a rugged engine and could handle max climb power for the duration of the cruise easily.

Here is another leg to CYCG. Duenna again having issues with fuel. This seems to be more consistent in the P-40.
