it was Eddie Andreini...shame..ive gotten to see him many times out here..he goes to the Yuba County EAA meet every year and we were there when he took a thunder mustang and set a new distance speed thing...he took off,,gained some altitude and circled a few times..then dove down until a 100 feet or something over the runway and then climbed to a set altitude ..and traveled some distance out..and back...took almost an hour..but suddenly he came screaming down the runway again ..super fast...and the announcer told us he was victorious..setting a new speed/distance record.

Very sad indeed!!! Eddie has been a staple of the Redding Air Show for years.

It is a sad tragedy to lose an experienced pilot like this. But - isn't this the second 70+ year old pilot to crash in an airshow or demo recently ? Would this just be a coincidence or should be looked at as possible a causative factor ?
