Update video of Cliffs of Dover

You can control ground weapons in Il2: Cliffs of Dover? Maybe one day my dream of the ultimate combat flight sim will occur! A sim where if you get shot down over or bail out over enemy occupied territory, it becomes a ground battle to survive, elude and make your way back to friendly forces.

Man o man ,I am tempted to reinstall Cliffs of Dover but what a major PITA.

I bought it first day out and deleted it 2 weeks later. A steaming mess it was. Just programing the commands and tinkering with the graphics took a week. Just ran throught the forums and I am hearing great things about the AI being inmproved but not much else. Does look better but think I will wait. Not really interested in a vehicle ground simulator or running a flak gun, driving a boat ect.
I wanted a flight sim. I did however spend most my time parachuting so maybe I should stay on the ground.

well i recently had a computer issue and had to do a complete re-install of Vista...and just got around to re-installing Clod....and it made a big difference. i think i had such a convoluted version...since i downloaded the Russian version first...then tried to convert to the english version............but anyway i can run it reasonably well right now...just not over London:icon_lol:

Must be fate. I attempted to download via Steam ILS/COD and it said it would take 2 days! I thought I killed the download and forgot about it. This morning I booted my puter a there it was. Cod ready to fly!

Looks alot better,controls/settings saved from the last install. The pea soup green terrain looks better. Still stutter city so I started tweaking.
Just like FSX and other sims, sometimes you have to ignore what seems obvious and just start moving sliders and experimenting.

After tinkering the last hour I have settled for whats best for me. Textures to med and the highest aa settings eliminated the stutters. To many settings, tweaks to cover them all but COD is good enough for me to get that quick air to air, flaming metal furball fix.

If you bought it like I did and its collecting dust, its worth reloading the new version. Also for 20 bucks its worth buying now.

I expected this would be a lot like the original Il-2 Sturmovik sim, buggy and nearly impossible to run on it's first release, then playable as fixes were released and computer hardware advanced.
