If you have not already, do some flying in Switzerland in FSX using the current November/winter season and default/freeware scenery available. This is already a favorite place to fly for me in FS9 and also with my MP buddies, using Holger Sandmann's wonderful freeware mesh and scenery and a number of freeware airports available. Transforms the elevations and gives you great "Star Wars" like flights eg. in Hunters and Mirages down through the canyon floors where many civil and military airbases abound.
The FSX default scenery - plus some freeware mesh for the alps you can get at Simaviation - is equally, if not more impressive than FS9, though if you like you can go for the uber expensive Pro Switzerland payware scenery which is highly rated. I did add the freeware Interlakken airport recently posted at SOH, which is a great starting off point. From there, use your FS map to get bearings on some of the other airfields hidden in the mountain valleys. There are very challenging approaches into favorite mountain airfields like St. Stephan, Saanen (nr Gstaad) and Ambri and these are all REAL airports with these approaches IRL. Gives you respect for the Swiss Air Force pilots! Try some dusk/dawn flights. Summer green textures are a completely different but equally pleasing visual experience. Happy flying.
