What prices are you starting to see drop

Well I know we can go on and on about this subject but I for one am glad to see the gas price drop, but also notice it has started to creep back up in the last couple of weeks. It is also nice to see computer hardware prices drop too.I have been a tad bit disappointed when shopping in some of the retail store that they act like they are having sales and prices are dropped but really haven't seen that much of a difference. I guess that's why there is still so much stock still left over. Same goes with the car dealerships...they too act like they are offering huge savings but are still up to there old tricks too...lol. It is sad to see so many loose there job and nobody is really secure at this point with employment but it will also force the retail companies to take a second look at the prices they are selling things for. What have you seen drop in prices and what would you lik eto see drop..Mike

Yeah, I see the initial reaction to the economy from a lot of outfits is: "Times are tough, we have to raise prices". Wuh??? Yeah, umm.... good luck with that. If you thought sales were down before...

I see sales are mostly the tricks you mentioned. The only exception to this is the store's "loss leaders" I think they are called. The items that really are deeply discounted to get people in the store in the hopes they buy other stuff.

I see food coming down a bit around here. Not sure if that's due to transportation costs coming down or other factors. If anything would help the most people, I think a drop in food, basic utilities, and rent would help the most.

The price of food has not dropped, but it is forecast to drop unless a natural disaster hits or the price of fuel goes up. Most other goods are coming down. I do not think the price for services has declined.

Usually when prices go up, they don't drop later on. Tho there are exceptions to theat rule... gas and some other things already mentioned. I know shipping cost are up and haven't come down. And that affects my other hobby, my GTO. Repo part's prices are up with no drop any time in the future. And they don't usually have sales or free shipping. In December there was a sale from one supplier, but they didn't stick with the sale prices in their catalog and increased most prices by 2 to 3 dollars. I guess that covered the "free" shipping. So much for the meaning of the words "Holiday Bargains". :costumes:

have you ever noticed that gas there in delware gets more expensive the closer you get to the refinery?

Aside from gas, I haven't noticed overall prices dropping. I wasn't surprised in the least WHEN gas prices started falling; just how much they fell.

Grocery prices haven't really dropped (though the loss-leaders are quite good); in fact, I've noticed prices about the same as 6-12 months ago, but the packages are SMALLER.

Food prices are up; mainly due to transportation prices, (fuel, trucking companies having folded, costs now increased dramatically). This though seems to have stabilized, at least here in Phoenix.

Fuel is creeping up... As we thought it would.

New cars are very very very (very) cheap in America right now. Honda recently purchased a HUGE (HUGE) amount of area to store cars at in LA area for shipped over cars that havent been sold, (they are stock piling them). My neighbors just purchased a new Pontiac sedan for a mere $12K. Unheard of. I think the sticker price was originally well over $20K.

Hard Drives are way inexpensive!!! WOO HOOOOOOOO!!! :woot: Love to see things become affordable. Really helps out.

One of our local Dodge dealers has cut the price of 2008 cars by 50%. A 2008 Dodge mini-van, well loaded, $12,500. Dodge Calibers are under 9 grand.

Food is still up, trash bags are through the roof (have gone from $3 a box to $6 a box...and that is a generic no-name brand from the local discount store...and that price difference is in less than a year). Toilet paper is up, paper towels are down. Laundry detergent up. Batteries up. Fish food has remained about the same. Dog food up slightly...thankfully a 20 pound bag will last our 12 pound and 8 pound dogs a long time. Ferret foods are up up up.

Yes, hard drives are down. Got a 250gig SATA 3gig/s transfer rate, for $50 with free shipping. Too bad I didn't have the funds to buy two of them. Hopefully I can catch another deal like that in the near future.

Not sure what the price on underwear has done...but I will soon have to find out as my wife says that my shorts have gotten so thin they won't stop a fart. Yeah, they are kink of see through now and really do need replaced....but dang it...they are comfortable finally.
