Willy's Slow But Dandy Tour of the SW Pacific

Not sure what the heck happened, but I think we got shot down. There we were cruising along about 60nm out from JCB, at 16k just enjoying the weather and mild turbulence just kind of rocking the SBD enough to make us sleepy and the next thing I knew the engine was dead, on fire, smoke billowing and we were going down.

Darn it's a long walk back to the airfield. I can't help but wonder where that sneaky A5M Claude got off to?

Well got to comparing notes with Fred (tail gunner) and he said he woke up just in time to see the whole sky turn aluminum with gun turrets. I'm thinking that it's not even safe at 16k from getting run over by that Superfort......

Got about 15 mins before arrival and I had to to go next door to check on my mother in law who wasn't answering her phone. She was fine (just can't hear for beans) and got back as the aircraft was passing the airport and did the "Dauntless Dive" from 14k. Keeping in mind that field elevation is about 1500ft, I started pulling out at 3500 and it just wouldn't pull out. Crashed again.

Probably won't try it again tonite, got too much going on.

Starting preflights, will take off in a bit for WABB Frans Kaisiepo. I can't help but wonder who Frans is?

Scratch flight, important r/l stuff

Hey Willy,

Frans is ...

attachment.php

According to Wikipedia ...

Frans Kaisiepo was born in Wardo on the island of Biak on 10 Oct 19 and 21.

He was the 4th Governor of Papua ..... was in orifice ..... hold it, hang on, .... was in office :encouragement: ... from 1964 until 1973.

As the representative of Papua he was involved in the Malino Conference (16 – 25 July 1946), where the formation of the Republic of Indonesia was discussed. He proposed the name Irian, which came from the Biak language.

He was a National Hero of Indonesia.

Also quite the "looker", eh? .... some folks have all the luck.

Speaking of luck .... Good luck to ya Willy!!

Thanks Salt! And now we know...

Gonna be prepping for the flight to WABB here in a bit. Got a couple of chores to do first.

Once I get enough coffee into Fred to sober him up, we're off to WA1A Sorong. There's reports of Zeros about.

Having an issue with the SBD. Apparently nothing in the cockpit is clickable anymore. VC or the popup panels. Unless I'm in full screen and then I can't access the Duenna. Go back to windowed mode to access the Duenna and FSX crashes. Other aircraft are fine however.

Hmm... anyone want to buy a cheap SBD?

Might be looking to catch the redeye back to the start line and see what's available at the Swap N Shop....

:biggrin-new: Hey Willy, no problem about Dudley, I think he has been sleeping on the job! hehe. And we ain't seen any back guys either, maybe a few spear chukers:encouragement:
