Microsoft are offering a further year of windows 10 Security Updates extending this to October 13 2026.

You have to have your machine fully updated and eventually you will see a message to enroll through your Microsoft Account (free) in the programme under Settings/WindowUpdate.

3 of my 4 are too old to upgrade to Windows 11 so this gives these perfectly good fast machines some more time internet connected.

Can anyone tell me if G-Max still works in Win11.

Enrolled in ESU through 1 PC then was able to add 2nd when message appeared. Still waiting for pathway to open for the other 2.

¬Any individual using a Windows 10 device on version 22H2 for personal use is eligible. This includes devices that aren’t managed by an organisation or enrolled in enterprise licensing programmes.¬

Microsoft speak

For individuals, Windows 10 Extended Security Update (ESU) will cost $30 USD for the first year and can also be obtained for free by synchronizing PC settings or by redeeming 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points. The ESU program is a one-year license, and you must purchase it yearly. For organizations, the ESU costs increase annually, starting at $61 per device for commercial clients and $1 for educational institutions in the first year, according to PCMag and ZDNet.

For individuals (Consumers)
  • Cost: $30 USD for one year of updat
  • Free options:
    • Syncing PC settings to the cloud is a free option to enroll.

    • Redeeming 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points is another way to get it for free.

That's good news! Thanks Gordon. (y)

My PC is 7 years old and was put together to run WoTR at full spec., which it does admirably. I wasn't looking forward to having to take it offline, so a spell of reprieve.

A couple off weeks ago I did upgrade to win11 on a i7-6700k/MSI z170 and a i7-7700k/MSI z270 motherboard. Both maybe 10y of age. Think the whole problem is that your motherboard should capable of handling TPM. Luckily both MSI could be set to TPM2.
Here a great tool on what to change https://github.com/rcmaehl/WhyNotWin11. Of course the CPU will always be red highlighted because officially old CPU’s are not supported.
If your SSD is still MBR and wanting to convert to GPT there is an easy method that uses windows Commando terminal (Google it).
https://github.com/builtbybel/Flyoobe. Also a must have tool and by using that no need of a complex USBtool.
Here a very interesting video that explains it all:

I just want to make sure I'm understanding this ...

I have antivirus and anti-spam software on my Win-10 systems. Does this mean that, eventually, I can't be online at all with a Win-10 system REGARDLESS of the antivirus?

I haven't gotten anything from my antivirus software other than the, "Thanks for renewing for another year" message.

Seems I'm just going to have to be completely offline starting next year, which is better than next week, I guess. :cautious:

Saludos!

It depends on your antivirus software. My own AV software continued to support Windows 7 for years after Win 7 lost Microsoft support and only this year the AV people announced that Win 7 would no longer be supported. I'm going to check how much longer my own AV provider is likely to keep supporting Win 10 and I recommend you ask yours the same question.
