Worlds largest RC Plane

Another cool one.. (this I want!!!)

Check the sound of the turbines as it taxi's past after landing...

Just finished watching the B-29, THAT IS SO COOL!! Even though it looked like the plane was slightly overpowered, those guys still flew the plane in a very respectable manner. I hate it when people do barrel rolls and other types of violent maneuvers with planes that size. Sorry just a small pet peeve.

Thanks for the great video!

That B-29 video was cool, very impressive, when it is in the air it looked like the real thing. However starting the engines looks like a good way to lose some fingers. OSHA would never approve.:costumes:

And those are real tubines Bill. We had a show in Danville two weekends ago. The engines alone cost $4,000! :isadizzy: No telling how much money is tied up in that SST, but I bet you could buy a nice new car or light sport airplane for the amount.

Roger that. I believe its the same engine (turbine) manufacturer for those engines on the wing-backpack of Rocket Man that crossed the English Channel.

You know.. If they made that SST only 2 or 3 times bigger, you could be 'in' it flying around... arrghh..

Imagine one about the length of a Lear 23. Use those small French jet engines. Perhaps a 2 or 4 passenger bird. Man, that would be awesome...

I like the ground-level shot in the Concorde one, as the aircraft leave the runway. Might even look real, in slow motion!

I fly RC and this one makes me wana cry....

I wonder if someone crossed his frequency. I wonder if they can create more secure ways to control them without the possibility of someone messing with someone elses radios. (If thats what happened... )

I have seen many mini movies of that very model flying. When I heard it crashed I was pretty upset myself. When they rev up the turbines before takeoff, the sound of their whine is just awesome......

I must learn how to embed youtube links....

NSS

Its super easy.

Here is a base string;
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TDmnjwbJrVM

From the 'equals' section, there should be 11 (eleven) numbers/letters.

Here is the proper 'link' of the actual FLV or Flash Video footage.
TDmnjwbJrVM

Take that and copy/paste to be alone in a line. (Or copy paste the entire address string, and delete all parts from the string except the 11 bit FLV name).

Next, add 'youtube' and '/youtube' with brackets to both the front and boack.

Front = 'youtube'
Rear = '/youtube' (note teh slash that leans to the right)

Remember to use 'brackets' around the 'youtube' bits. [ ] <---- like that

[ youtube] TDmnjwbJrVM[ / youtube]

Together, it would look like this (without the spaces. Spaces are so you can see it without it turning into a youtube screen).

And here is the embedded version done... <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

There are radios now that have this capability. Either they use spread spectrum, or scan for an open frequency to use, even have a digital signature that only the receiver that it is bound to will respond! I even have one that has TWO data links on separate frequencies for redundancy! :mixedsmi:

Anyhow, I read a fairly thorough report of that incident somewhere. It was really a rather boring mistake (though the consequences were spectacular). If you notice at one point, the plane is in silhouette and and side profile. The pilot said he was distracted for a second and looked away. When he looked back, he thought he was banking one way, when in reality he was banking the other way. He corrected the wrong direction and well.... I know this phenomenon all too well in my RC helicopter. Fortunately, no crashes yet. But I get easily confused when flying it side profile to myself if it is banking left or right. :redf:

Take a look at the video again, and I think you will see what I am talking about.

Thanks Lionheart...Have a couple of beer tokens.:ernae::ernae:

I have the plans for this, but as I fly from a disused WWII airfield landing would be a little harsh on the skid....

Nonsense! Still on RC's!

Love that Komet! I wouldnt have thought to just put a fan on the front. Much easier then ducted fans or an actual rocket.

I have a little 'humble' Hobbyzone Super Cub. Good fun for a very basic Foam plane. Has taken some real abuse! Glue it back up, few tooth pics in there for added reinforcement. :d
