Zero/Rufe Package Snuck In!

Huh, this is really quite interesting. With the carriers, that's a nice amount of content in the "box." You could use the Hard Deck Simulations module to simulate arrested landings on them, I assume.

Nice to have a -5 model, too. It has been a few gens of sims since we had a good new short-wing Zero. I wonder how well it is modeled. From the video, there seems to be some strange contouring/shading on the control surfaces, but the general shape doesn't look too bad. I don't think there really was a floatplane version of the -5, so they fudged that a bit. Some of the skins look a bit bizarre - honestly, can no developer research a skin properly? - but the cockpit layout looks generally all right. This one might be a bit of a sleeper. I'll be watching the independent YouTuber reviews closely on this one.

Texture art critics and rivet counters aren’t going to be happy. Detail is decidedly P3D level, and the shading’s off currently on the ailerons.

That said, instruments, etc. work well and initial quick flight felt good. Handles well on the ground. If you’re a WW2 aviation fan, it’s not the end-all of Zekes, but given the scenery, inclusion of the Rufe, and lack of alternatives, I don’t regret spending the price of a meal for me and the kid at a fast food place. I’d rather have Zero now that’s a bit less detailed than no Zero at all. I’m not too annoyed by the graphics overall, but I will say the prop disc is terrible and needs some serious work.

I think this'll make some Sim Outhouse historic aviation fans happy, but the kind of people who take more pleasure in finding flaws in planes than flying them will want to take a hard pass.

If that prop disk problem isn't a model problem but rather textures, then maybe one of the talented repainters of the Outhouse can/could help with that.

Just thinking out loud/hoping...

Any chance we get some additional details regarding your decision ?
I mean, I don't expect top notch quality at that price, but that model looks quite good to me on these screenshots... So what's so bad about it ?

Even though the model is quite cheap, the quality is below par. The prop disk is what kills it imho. And the VC isn't up to today's standards either.

The sound is also shocking.

Turn off the engine and the noise just stops, no wind down as per a real engine.

Wasted my Just Flight reward points on this.

Hey ho.
