Beechcraft XA-38 Grizzly - FSX Native Conversion

Hi John :) Long time; no see.

Yes, according to the original docs, the original paintkit was uploaded to Flightsim.com and Avsim.com.
By Damian Radice

I cannot find a copy of it on my system.

Milton, I have the PSD Paint Kit for the military version for FS 2004, but not the civilian version. If it suffices for FSX also, I could upload it to SOH's Library if that's okay.

I've got a copy of the Vers 2.0 paint kit that Damian "Windrunner" Radice did. I could upload it here giving full credit to Damian, if Milton has no objection.

Willy, please do upload it to SOH library. Thank you Sir. :wavey:

Cazzie, the paint kit should suffice for the Civilian version; only the nose is different.

No changes were made for the FSX native conversion. All original paints will work fine.

The only thing I can find to snivel about is the weapons not working. The cowl flaps seem to be all or nothing. Is that correct, or do I need to adjust something ? She's a thing of beauty, and a pleasure to fly!
Thanks
Sue

Hi Sue, thank you for your time invested.

The cowl flaps and oil cooler dampers were both thermostatically controlled. The switch on the panel simply activates the system.

I do not have code "yet" to manage the flaps and dampers. I'll see what can be done.

EDIT: Just checking manual operation of the flaps here and they are KB controlled fine in increments.
And, I was able to open/close in increments by dragging the switch. However, the port engine flaps seems to have a mouse problem with my system.

EDIT2: I have corrected the cowl flap switch for the port engine.
Also, with regard to armament, we are working on load outs and visibility for armament for the Bearcat and Havoc that manages weight based on load out and use, and I hope to use that as well if it is done in time. Otherwise, it will be as is.

With over 200 downloads of the beta files, I hope some of you will share your experiences, issues, or concerns. Need more feedback for the FSX or P3D users among us. Hope to upload the final version late Sunday.

Thanks

Hi Milton
I flew your Grizzly for about 30 minutes. I was totally unfamiliar with the machine and expected a Beech 18 with guns - obviously not so. Do you know what engines were used in these airplanes? There are a lot of switches in this beast and everything that I expected to work did so without problems. I'm not sure if any of the military type switches are designed to work or not but I did not see any that '"highlighted" with the mouse but did not move. The manual start worked fine although I believe there are two starter switches - one on the lower right of the panel and the other on the right pedestal. Not sure whether or not this was intentional. The sound package is awesome and the visuals spectacular. Quite a bright strobe on the underside at least in P3D 3.4 but it looked good in all the animations I viewed.
I'm not very knowledgeable about old military airplanes but this one flew very well for me and has the performance to scare, even in the sim.
Another very nice machine for P3D. Untested (by me) in V4
Thanks for doing it.

Hi Warren :)

Thanks for the report for v3.4 testing; greatly appreciated. Will check the strobe.

The right side panel starter switches are for the APU, and I should remove the mouse tag and function.

Alain, I may not have configured these models the same as FS9, but I will for the final release.

The Experimental Test version has no rockets, bombs, or tanks.
The Ferry version has only tanks; the Post version has only hard points.

There is no load out configurator.
