New Carriers..?

Pretty sure some of them are still WIP, can't see the "25 de Mayo" either.

Going to install the SUE mod first then the QE, been on the look out for new version of both. Just hope existing repaints of the SUE can be made to work with his tweaks, will go great with the 25 de Mayo and the Foch/Clemenceau/CDG.

Would love to know where download links are...

Are any new carriers being built for FSX\P3D...?
Anyone taking on the new Ford class or British ships..?

It is almost there now -- details to follow, but it is the current representation of the US Navy fleet, as AI traffic. Damn near all of it.

Probably not what you are looking for, but it is a live project.

Jeansy, thanks for the plug.

EDIT: generally more updates to be found on the FB page and certain far more photos:

So I have the Etendard installed and it works great - nice facelift for what was in its day an excellent model.

For the life of me I cannot get the Queen Elisabeth to load via AI carriers. Even though its set up as entry number 24 it keep jumping to entry 2 in the AI carriers ingame menu, it also refuses to draw the model - no idea why.

Edit:

Never mind - Got her working now. Though it appears the functional elevators may be P3D only, when I taxi over them in FSX I just fall through (I have remembered to install the gauge to the aircraft in question)

A 'no draw' is usually down to an incorrect entry in either the cvn_id.cfg or the aicarriers.cfg.. whichever one you have it listed in. No idea why it's jumping pages though??

Here she is in my cvn_id.cfg

[formation.78]
title=QE Group
unit.0=CVF_QE_X, 0, 0
unit.1=AI_F99_COrnwall, 400, 0

Note.. the upper_case O in Cornwall is taken from the sim.cfg. I'll get around to changing it one day!!

If a picture is worth a thousand words then, here is a couple thousand.

I paused the sim (P3D V3.4) and snapped pic #1 then released it and when I did, the carrier climbed higher (Pic #2).

I used the directions in the readme so don't know why the flying aircraft carrier bit. It looks like a UFO had the carrier in a tractor beam like star trek.

I am having the exact same problem with all of their ships. They bounce up to like a 1000 feet, then drop back to the surface and when they hit the surface they are being launched into space

I'll take a look at the Reagan now but it will be in FSXA.. not P3D.

EDIT: Downloaded and installed Ronnie Reagan. Opens fine in AIC and the RH aft lift goes up and down nicely with the shift+E (door open) command. However.. I can't sit on the lift without going through it. Fortunately, I was in the Cera UH-60 so didn't get wet. Tried a number of times but the lift isn't 'hard deck' for me. Can't get my head around why yet???

@ Gray Eagle

I seem to have found a fix. Use Modelconverter X to convert the MDL to a P3D V2.mdl and the bouncing will stop, at least it did in my sim.

Thanks for the info, I have V1.3 but not very familiar with it. How or what do I do to convert it.

Is V1.4 required to convert to a P3D mdl or will V1.3 do it?

I don't remember if V1.3 also supports converting to P3D V2.mdl, but you will find out if you follow the following steps=

1. When you have opened Modelconverter X (MCX), click on the 'import' button (upper-left). Scroll to your Simobjects/boats folder, look for the Reagan and open de .MDL file in the model folder.

2. Allow MCX to fully load the model. When its fully loaded, click on the 'Export object' button, located next to 'import' button. A new screen opens, on the buttom of the screen there is the 'save as' drop down menu, op the drop down menu and select 'P3D v2 MDL object' (If that option is not available, then you should go get MCX V1.4)

3. When saving the .MDL, you will have to overwrite the old one you opened in step 1 (making a back up is always recommended). The converting itself may take a while.

If all the steps are done correctly, your Reagan should work fine in P3D.

Let me know if you encounter any problems

Regards,

Randy

Thanks, While you were writing this, I "Discovered" how to do this, got lucky in my attempts to make this work. I now have the latest release of this converter which includes P3D V4 (Don't have that one....yet)
But sure enough... your suggestion was the fix. :encouragement:

Thanks Randy :adoration:

"Butch"

Edit: I did most of your steps and it made a P3D V3 mdl file which I had to rename to match the original mdl file name - that was how I did it. Thanks for the help. Now on to fix those other carriers that
want to fly in P3d V3.4 :biggrin-new:

The lift lowers from a helo in FSX Butch but it's not solid for me. TBH.. the lifts on Kitty Hawk (which comes with the payware Phantom) aren't solid for me either although I know they are for some. Why.. who the hell knows:dizzy:

Randy,

Were you able to get the elevator to lower? Not sure if it will lower in a helo nor how to do that.

Theres a guage that ships with each carrier he's done, you need to add it to the panel of whatever your planing on flying. Once in place its supposed to be triggered by taxiing over the lift and opening/closing the primary exit.

Pretty sure this feature is P3D only now that me and Dave have both reported the same results with different carriers.

Hi Ya Dave,

I think the author had make the back elevator function but not sure which flight sim he/she designed this for. Had to convert the mdl to P3D V3 so the carrier would stop flying.
Now perhaps the cab file he/she made was meant for another sim.

following is from the readme:
copy the effects directory to the directory with the same name inside the sim (if you do not do this, you do not see the steam cat and other effects)
-to add to ai carrier copy the file cvn_76.cfg in C:\Program Files (x86)\AICarriers\conf.d

to use the back elevator in the carrier, copy the content of the directory gaugeXaircrafts to the panel directory of the selected aircraft
add the follow lines to the aircraft panel.cfg int the firts part of vcockpit

[Vcockpit01]

gaugexx=elevador2!elevador.xml, 0,0,0 <<<<<< It goes in the panel.cfg of the aircraft you want to fly to the Reagan
